I think the purple and pink was referring to them creating sunsets. At any rate, I agree with Kashim that some of this stuff seems a bit off. Crumkindivia, in particular, reminds me entirely too much of Bopalopia from Achaea. While both are interesting areas, my favorite areas tend towards the more serious and the less whimsical.

Oh goody, I'm not the only one.

As long as they don't go 3Kingdoms on us I think all will be well.

(Note: The tone I take fringes on rantish, despite that I'm not attacking Richter at all. Just answering his question.)

Too sci-fi? Maybe. You can't just implement something that -isn't there-, but none of this is really coming from an outside source. As far as it seems to me, everything Lusternia is (Aside of course from the roots of myths and stories that -all- fantasy stories are influenced: J.R.R Tolkien didn't create the concept of elves, but that dosn't mean the story of The Ring is unoriginal trash. Anyone who can read at 10th grade level knows that. Heck anyone illiterate who saw the recent MOVIES knows that)seems to grow out of itself. It's concepts and how they are utilized are it's own. I said that when I came here, it's such a different game. It feels like other IRE games in alot of it's systems, but it's not. It's unique. Planes are crazy, not since ursula k. le guin's take on transdimensional vices or refreshing concepts like D&D's "Planescape" work have I seen a planar concept done so well. And this is a -multiplayer- game. It's harder to do multiplayer games and still retain a strong sense of individual, non-subjective concept while still attracting a wide audience. For instance: Even though we all know roleplay enforced = a better roleplaying game in 99% of any instance you may be logged into a MUD(which is text anyway for christ's sake), we don't enforce it because despite the fact those guys over there like to pretend to be knights, they think verbose roleplay is strange and tedious. Which is fine. They get to lose the artisnals.

My point is that as long as Lusternia isn't -directly- stealing/copying anything from outside sources or concepts(which it's not), and the playerbase is still having fun with it, my opinion is that Lusty should raise the big golden badge of creative license, and turn a deaf ear to anyone who tries to limit it's development.

So what if we start leaking into a genre of fantasy gaming where we're not exactly ye-olde classic fantasy anymore? That's what Aetolia is for: The same old boring fight between Count Dracula and some paladins.

Bring on the aetherships, the sluagh, the wiccan brooms and the gigantic hamsters that radiate raw quintessential energy. I wanna see it all, and Lusternia is better than to be limited by anything(especially not genre labels) it dosn't want or have to. It's the new-new-new world right? Lusternia is our baby and I say we let her draw on the walls if she wants to. Just make sure it's washable.

What irks me is not the sci-fi (I believe it can be combined well), but the whole silly areas, denizens etc. Candyland? Icemen? Is this realm for serious anymore? mellow.gif
Let's not forget Weeky Peedy or whatever he's called as well.

The candy inhabitants may be manifested Fae spirits, we aren't quite sure yet. In all honesty, they're no more silly than a Fae that likes to tickle people, or a little green man that picks people's pockets.
Nymerya2006-02-08 05:34:19
I like the occasional 'fun' thing. My favourite place was always Bopalopia... and ever think it might be a little bit of a tribute? Which is another idea I appreciate.
Shikari2006-02-08 06:16:07
Think of the aether bubbles as 'pocket universes', if that helps.

They're not all silly, you know.

You have the best kick-ass signature ever... cool and straight to the point. wub.gif

On Topic

I will have to agree with Edmund here... Lusternia should not be limited by such labels... in fact, we are better than labels like fantasy, sci-fi and MUDsex combined, dammit. We are Lusternia, where you can have a Faeling Wiccan in a Broom inside an aethership having MUDsex with a Paladin Krokani ninja.gif

There should be a way for larger ships to carry smaller ships. Something like:

Carrier Module
Place in an empty room of your aethership

Your Aethership can encompass smaller ships within its hull. The size/number of the aetherships able to be carried is equal to the number of Carrier modules installed on your ship.

For instance, if you have 2 Carrier Modules installed, you can carry either a single 2-room ship, or two 1-room ships.

These ships can serve as escape pods, skirmishers, or simple decoys. The commander would get the ability to 'launch' these carried ships without commanders of their own.

En Taro Adun!
(yes, brownie points to be scored here again)

And i was only in triangle but those sand fishes are cool.

And another idea. Maybe there is bubble with beer universe somewhere?? Arix would love it. laugh.gif

I don't think that came about until Tassadar died (if I'm remembering it correctly). It was just En taro Adun, Executor when you were the Executor of the fleets. And I spent more time with this version than the En taro Tassadar one. happy.gif

That's my point... he is dead and so "En Taro Tassadar" is now used as he is the new "martyr"....

I'm not sure what psychadelic code you used to make them say that, to me they just keep saying that they thought I'd see it their way and that today is a good day to die. Though I have to admit, apart from their distort ability corsairs are not really very much use, in that, only the computer somehow manages to use multiple of those at once, I just have to click and then very quickly mobilise those forces that I want to take out whatever it is that the corsair distorted .

Oh, and gotto love Dark Templar. superninja.gif

And you'd be surprised how many people haven't played this most classical of games ohmy.gif

Also, I have just spoken to estara, we're making carrier modules, if you just TRANSFER 5000 CREDITS TO ELCYRION FOR 0 GOLD I'll upgrade your vessel to be -exactly- like Protoss carriers.

Honest...
