If you don't gain much from the kill than how is it griefing to not wish to be publicly humilated on deathsense?
Unknown2006-02-22 02:42:40
Regardless, I don't like the behaviour at all. If you're killed by someone, then accept that you were killed by them. Don't cheat them out of the victory.

So no using Vitae and spores?
Acrune2006-02-22 02:44:28
I lost about 2-3% for heartstopping and conglutinating. If you don't want your attacker to get experience, thats a fair price to pay I think.
Unknown2006-02-22 02:45:51
How much more do you lose compared to conglutination?
Daganev2006-02-22 02:46:10
I know I've heartstopped when I was jumped by a team.
I saw no reason to sit and watch them hit on me for the extra 4 seconds when I was busy doing other more important things.

Vitae is a death, I thought. Your victor gets the experience.
Spores means you've escaped combat, and hence they haven't won.

I lose less then a % conglutinating.

How exactly is spores different than heartstop? or Hermit? or Havens?

Hmm, so it quadruples the experience loss, almost? I didn't realize it was quite that significant... in that case, I guess you're right in that it is a fair trade off.

Erm, the same way that WALKING OUT OF THE ROOM is different to heartstop.

What about Lichdom? You don't get experience from someone who has lichdom up.
And IRL there are instances where people kill themselves rather than let someone else do it - hell, in some societies suicide is considered a very very honorable death.
Not to mention, ICly, we have a world were it is stressed that "people control their own fate" I'd say taking your own life rather than letting someone else strike the killing blow definitely fits within that mindframe.
Why can't part of "earning the win" be killing someone before they have the chance to Heartstop?

if i have lichdom up and i'm jumped by a group, then i tend to heartstop and make the getaway as a soul before they have time to prepare themselves, it also cheats the person who gets the winning blow out of the deathsight kill, simply because if you're teaming you don't deserve people to see you slaying murphy or whoever else.

Yeah, and I'm just spiteful enough to want to deny anyone who jumps me any form of payback.
It works especially well if it's a Celestine, since they waste tarot cards (and usually power) on their attacks.

Does that actually work? Since the heartstop command doesn't go through your client, and instead works within the game, I wouldn't imagine that would be possible.
If you alias over a command, you can't use it. If I do SETALIAS HEARTSTOP MOONSONG, I have no way to heartstop without making another alias that actually sends the heartstop command. Forestals used to do it with Inferno, so they could never use it, even accidentally.
It shouldn't really matter whether you do it in the game or in your client. Whatever you send out will be checked by your client first; if it's aliased there, it simply won't be sent. If it's aliased in game, the game will take whatever the client sent it, check to see if it's an alias, and if it is, use that (pretty sure).
The only problem with this is that it still won't stop you being forced to do anything, since that command never touches your client or your side of the game. For a while, it was rumored that aliasing over Inferno would stop it completely, but tests showed that to be false. Not really a problem with Heartstop, as it's not forcable anyway.
