Having a difficult time sleeping, Navaryn decided to go for a walk. In the quiet of the night, he heard some giggling and headed in its direction. Surely with murderers on the loose and Lisaera so very angry, there wasn't anything to be giggling for.

Navaryn passed through an opening in the trees and came upon the source of the happiness. A figure sitting in the darkness looked up, eyes glinting. "Oh! You came to join me! Have a seat."

Navaryn shrugged and walked over to sit next to the giggler. "What do you think is so funny? I could hear you all the way from the step of my home."

Another giggle came from the figure as it leaned over and whispered in Navaryn's ear. "Your death." The swiftness of the bladestroke didn't even allow Navaryn to react the the words. Giggling, the figure laid Navaryn down quietly and removed his hood. "Oh hehe, he was really Torak."

As the sun begins to rise, you all wander from your homes, greeting each other with a nod. Doing the usual headcount, you find that there's 10 among you, just as when you went to bed last night. A sigh of relief passes through the group, but then someone speaks. "Wow. I thought I was dead."

Xenthos pats himself down, and shrugs. "Hey, well here I am!"

Wide-eyed everyone looks at each other and then one notices. "Navaryn is gone!"

Good morning.

Xenthos is alive.
Navaryn (Torak) is dead.

With 10 alive, it's 6 to lynch.

Vote: Shammarah

Are there not, in fact, nine people alive?

EDIT: Oh, I missed the Xenthos-got-rezzed part.

Shamarah = scum

that is all
Shiri2006-03-22 02:29:39
Erm.

I don't think I've seen that one before. blink.gif

Yay Nejii. biggrin.gif (Wait, if he is Nejii. dry.gif)
Xenthos2006-03-22 02:49:53
That was definitely an interesting experience... I wonder what being dead for a day did to my fur.

Anyways, is anybody else noticing a pattern here?

no...
Xenthos2006-03-22 03:09:56
Actually, yes. It mainly seems to be that someone accuses you of being scum, and then they die and the day ends. That kind of concerns me, though it would seem to imply that you're not actually scum... (we'd never, ever be able to kill you if that is how it is actually working).

It's something to think about, at least. *wanders off, pondering the matters at hand*
Cwin2006-03-22 03:44:24
Xenthos alive.. Navaryn dead, and all at night?!

My head hurts. crying.gif
Cwin2006-03-22 04:03:18
---new post---

Ok, Xenthos is half right: The day deaths arn't random. My gut is screaming out "trigger trap": something they did.. perhaps in their last post, did them in.

Frizt is odd but after going over the posts, I have to admit, he's on to something. Shamarah seems the most suspicious to me.

vote Shamarah
Shiri2006-03-22 04:21:15
How is Shamarah odd?

I see his point about Fritzler not being scum...but he's still annoying. explode.gif And stop assassinating good guys, if that is you. (Which it looks like...dry.gif)
Iridiel2006-03-22 09:18:34
I must admit that Fritzler looks very strange, but I don't dare vote for him because then the person killing people on daytime might kill me so Fritzer looks more guilty.

Cwin voting a person who actually made sense it's a bit weird too... Maybe you have different ideas regarding Fritzler?
FoS Cwyn

Not an actual vote, just a gentle prod to share information.

Also... Maybe somebody is impersonating Xenthos? Or maybe he didn't die the first time and just looked dead? Do we have a mooncoven somewhere?
Kiarlea2006-03-22 10:22:32
Fritz always looks (and sounds) strange. He always calls me scum no matter what, so don't believe him if he starts that up again. happy.gif

On to serious matters now, he's always scum too. (Even if he isn't. It's Fritz. He's scum!!!! Vote Fritz!)

Now, seriously, onto the real thing.

I think Xenthos is scummy! Coming back to life after you're already dead is just wrong! Everyone knows dead is dead!

No real suspicions, sadly. Just propaganda.

*propagandizes Fritz*
Kiarlea2006-03-22 10:37:30
*waits for Fritz to call her scum*
Shamarah2006-03-22 11:01:17
If I'm suspicious, at least point out exactly where I'm being suspicious.
Kiarlea2006-03-22 11:27:58
The comment about Fritz being a dayvig.

Duh.

(Ha, the page lagged out as it was loading, and I saw Fritz voting for Sham, and I was like, wow! He voted again?! Then it loaded properly.)

mellow.gif

Wakies, talk you lot. Talk makes the day go our way! Usually....
Cwin2006-03-22 16:52:48
It's nothing definate, but far from random. I'm sort of glad for the FoS, though: I want what I have to say check on for accuracy.

Shamarah DOES make sense when he posts. He also picks 'easy' people to vote for: A random vote on Shiri almost through all of first day, then nothing afterwards. That alone isn't enough though. This adds to it:

Context: First day. Req is starting to get bandwagoned, so this reply comes in.
QUOTE
That's a quick-building bandwagon there over one scummy comment. I'd like to wait for requiem to post again.

Sensible. 2 RL days later, we're still in First day and Req is down to 1 vote. He hasn't replied since Sham made that post. Not 30 minutes after the vote that made it one-vote-to-lynch:

QUOTE

That's one from lynch and it doesn't look like we're getting anywhere by waiting, should I just put on the hammah?

First we're going too quick and not letting someone defend themselves, then you offer to make the kill before they get a chance to reply.

My suspicion: perhaps you didn't want to jump in to bandwagon, since it's the middlebandwagoners that are the most suspicious (sidenote: yes, I know I was 3rd in that wagon). Still, perhaps you wanted them dead anyway. If mafiascum is anything like here, throwing a last vote early usually pegs you as mafia. It WOULDN'T if you had permission, though. So you ask and, if they say 'yes', you finish the job. If 'no' you walk away scott free: a part of the community, but without blood on your hands.

Is that true? Maybe so, maybe not. But that's what was going through me while I made that vote. My gut, meanwhile, tells me that you aren't normal. Scum? Can't say, but I don't believe you're a typical person (as far as 'typical' goes in this Nil of a game).

So there you go.
Iridiel2006-03-22 16:59:14
Well, actually I would have put the vote on Requiem without asking, mostly because I was a bit angry of him being inactive and not making things advance (or help a bit at least).
It's an attitude that I see most scummy (let's do nothing, maybe somebody else will take the blame, if I say something they'll see I am a scummy liar) and nasty to others players.

At least he offered to make the kill, didn't do it directly. So, it sounds sensible for me. So, you voting for him on this basis makes you look a bit... bad. But I won't vote for you yet because at least you try hard to make sense and that's helpful.

And because I also trust my gutfeelings.

Cwin2006-03-22 17:22:04
That 'do nothing' mentality is what I'm thinking of Shamarah as. While the rest of us were running around trying to turn random votes into something worthwhile, he just sits there in the sidelines talking to Shiri for half the time. When a critical moment came, he took the safest route: accuse the bandwagoners at first, then 'go with the crowd'. No matter how it turned out no one would notice him. Since he DID say something, he couldn't be pegged as silent. If Req was innocent, he could say he felt bad but felt there was no hope so he wanted to help the group and end the day. If Req was guilty, he can claim that he made the final kill, proving his worth.

It's TOO sensible, you can say. Note that in Mafia, the scum are the most knowledgable, the most sure footed by design, while the townies know nothing of what's going on.

Lastly, I'll abuse Rhayni's comment about Shamarah being on mafiascum, a place dedicated to online Mafia games. It hints that Shamarah, at least, knows enough of the game to know what marks you scum to many people (won't vote first, votes in the middle of a bandwagon instead, too silent, ext).
