Mimi: DRIED BLOOD CLOTS! ZOMG WTF. That makes me want to vomit.

As for myself, I've had alligator and rattlesnake... both of which taste like chicken.

*shudder* I've seen that stuff floating around in my soup one time...isn't it like coagulated pork blood or something?
Narsrim2006-02-13 08:55:01
*cringe*

That makes me just shiver... and I spent this entire summer working in gross anatomy. *shudder*

OMFG! She confused them for fish balls... that means they were "meaty" blood clots *cries* That's so wrong.

Anatomy aint gross, its very fun
Iridiel2006-02-13 12:53:49
*blushes* Raw fish?

Really, if I don't know what's on a dish (and I believe what the cook tells me only if sounds logical) I don't get near it.

I live in a country were eating baby sheep brains and eyes is considered healthy.

Caramelized insect lollipops are starting to be fashionable here too, there's a shop in one of the city traditional markets that sells all kind of weird things like that.

Umm I've eat different kinds of eyes, they were pretty gross. Fish, cow, sheep...some others. Don't ask me why I keep trying new ones.

rattlesnake, it tastes a lot like chicken. No, it really does.

Hehe, I've had that too. And she's right. Oh, and this really isn't strange for me, nor do I consider it gross, but....Haggis. Mmmmmm....haggis *goes all drool-y like Homer Simpson*
Shamarah2006-02-13 19:22:17
I really haven't had much of a chance to eat anything really crazy (though I hope to go to Thailand someday...) but I think the strangest would be baby octopus... which was really good biggrin.gif

I don't really think I've had anything that strange... The only thing I can think of, is one time I went to my former boss' house, and she gave my friend and I these things made of rice. They were rectangle shaped, had sesame seeds on the outside, and were kind of like if you took sticky rice, pushed it together even further, and put it in bar form. It was sweet, and wasn't really that good.

Ive had a lot of weird Danish and Portuguese dishes pushed at me, some of which I have yet to find out what I ate.. Weird family.
Weirdest food Ive been served but couldnt eat was (Arix heard about this) bread with butter, raw meat placed on top and then you cracked an egg over top it it raw. Very good for you supposedly huh.gif

Weirded Ive actually tried..was some odd Danish food that I think I thought was fish but was something completly different. The above was served through my Danish Morfar.

Twas a good conversation last night Arix, admit it tongue.gif
Narsrim2006-02-13 22:20:04
If by good for you... you mean likely to make you sick, then yes.

Daganev2006-02-13 22:22:02
Raw food will not make you sick unless you keep it bad before you serve it. If its fresh, its fine.

That's not true at at all. There are several foodborne pathogens that can be present in fresh raw meats that can induce some rather severe food-based poisoning.

Some example would be: Campylobacter, E. Coli, Listeria, Salmonella, etc.

I think it was more of an attempt by my cousin to get me to try it dry.gif no one thankfully got sick..from eating it

Well... the raw food itself won't, just the various nasties that might be living in it tongue.gif
