Except that it "really is" an evil empire, regardless of what the idea is supposed to be.
I'd actually disagree. The rise of Magnagora actually relates pretty well to the rise of America. You have the English (Celest) hoarding power over everyone. Then comes the ideal of Freedom (Kethuru/Taint) and America is born. This idea (taint) spreads across the world, inspiring many nations to go into revolution and create constitutions of their own.
If anything, by ideals (not how they've actually been played) I'd call Celest more "evil", being based on an Inquisition/Theocratic style of government, while Magnagora is really a home for those that are shunned or who are seeking a place to let their abilities carry them in life. Whereas, in the model of Celest, you'd be more likely to move up through corruption (faking of belief, using it to get superiors out of the way) and favoritism.
Yes, Magnagora has demons, and pain worshipers, and undeath.. but then again, we have an America that essentially worships the work-ethic to a masochistic level. Pre-Bush Jr, would America be considered the Evil Empire? I'd say no.
Not to say this correlation is real, I'm just saying how you could justify that Magnagora isn't really evil at all.

My interpretation of "evil Empire" is the controlling, conquesting empire with few morals and little regard for anything except the benefit it can give them... which fits Magnagora to a T.
Of course, it does fit other orgs as well.
Daganev2006-06-02 18:22:41
I'd call magnagora an insane empire before I called it evil.
Ashteru2006-06-02 18:44:00
Mag's cool.
Veonira2006-06-02 18:50:13
I think Magnagora has been steadily increasing in activity/culture/everything else recently. The younger groups of the city are getting involved more and are being encouraged more. It's good stuff
Veo happy!

If I had to compare Magnagora to any real life nation it would be the British Empire, not the United states. What with our love of conquest, belief in civilizing 'savages', and hearty doses of nationalism.
Athana2006-06-02 22:51:16
Yeah, I think we've been doing a far better job of making the younger citizens feel more significant and its paying off...makes me all tingly inside

Why did you rezz a 6 month old thread??
Reiha2006-10-27 01:07:47
For obvious reasons. Everyone keeps on saying Mag is going to , and rather help it go down faster that way, I would like to reverse or at least slow it down.
Edit: Oh, and I'm too lazy to start one.

As long as Mag keeps its forge, I am going to stick with it. ^^
Athana2006-10-27 01:22:54
I don't think Magnagora is doing too badly despite what most other people think apparently, but maybe that's just my flawed persepective. I think with a little effort, training, chill pills, and a few talks with certain individuals regarding respect and the chain of command can really fix things.
I -love- Magnagora, the atmosphere just suits me and no where else really feels -right-. So I'm confidient that with some reiteration of what it is to be a Magnagoran, our history and culture we can turn it around like we've done in the past.
EDIT: And sheesh Reiha talk about thread necro

Like you stick with guilds?
At least the number of idiots in Seren seems to have gone down a bit.

Mag is doing a bit better now I think. Some idiots have left and after the turn out for the Dairuchi revolt the other day I'm much more hopeful.
As for the Nihilists, doing a lot better now I think, lot of novices coming and actually staying and some transfers doing good -snuggle luthe n stagar-
As for those queer lil bards... no comment haha
