A lot of people are against Guild Wars because they don't understand the game. Over and over again idiotic people keep comparing it to WoW, even after they've been told time and time again that the two aren't the same type of game.
WoW is an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). Guild Wars is a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game).
I've played both games, and I think they are both equally excellent games, which is why I don't play either. I don't handle addiction well.
Guild Wars PvP is as exciting as PvP gets. The skill strategy is very intricate and very involved. At the same time the PvE (Player versus Environment) is equally as enjoyable (some people enjoy PvE so much they've never done PvP before). The storyline is golden.
Everyone once in a while they have Beta Weekends, where those who are interested in trying can play the full version free (no strings attached).
Moral of the story, children, is don't go making judgements without having real basis.
P.S. Fain, Dag, and other Lusternians in our guild, sorry for getting rid of our guild, we where all pretty much inactive, and I didn't have time to lead it anymore.

Here wow (Europe) was about 40€ and 12€ per month (3 or 4 beers in a bar a month) so it isn't such a deal.
Guildwars is starting to sound interesting. After being a while in level 60 in wow I really don't have fun unless in a good team (PUGs are a pain, that's why I made my raiding community) so I doubt that's a big problem. Maybe I better wait for a pack with the first game and the expansion all together if it's coming out in april?
Now, could anybody send me or post here screenshots of the interface? Is it configurable? Am I expected to deal with 30 addons that get outdated each patch? I just don't trust much gallery pictures.
RO I've seen the thread but I still ahven't found out how much per game and per month is that going to cost me.

The thing about the interface is simple and every time you visit a town you can completely refigure your characters abilities and skills, so there is no "find out you have completely stuffed up at L55 and have to completely rebuild your character from the ground up again" factor. Plus every single combination of classes IS viable, you just have to have the imagination to use them together effectively.
Unknown2006-02-15 12:06:23
The interface is configurable to a point too: you can set up sizes, font sizes, transparency, and color...more or less the usual stuff.
For example (and in spanish):

As I said, I really recommend finding a group of people to play the game with if you're thinking of getting GW. Unfortunately, all the people I know who play are american, and thus on the american servers, rather than the european ones.
Some screenshots:
As was said, the interface is 100% customizable.
Me playing around in the desert for no apparent reason
I'd attach more, but I don't have any webspace at the moment, and there's only so much room in my forum attachment thingie

99% of MMORPGS are just grinding to get levels and a pretty mediocre PvP system. So if you're looking for something different, try Netstorm. It's an old strategy game that still has a more or less alive community, and it's a lot of fun.

Exactly what I want.
Grinding, and if possible not PvP. Just what I need to get over the stress of the day to day life. If you add strategy and challenge to the grinding for levels much better.

Umm, that's why GW isn't an MMORPG, and in fact, something different 5% of it is leveling - you won't even notice it after a bit, and the entire game is based around the PvP system. The PvE based PvP is awesome though

If there's strategy and challenge, it's not grinding, it's a well-thought-of PvE system.

Then WoW isn't grinding unless you choose to grind.
At least myself needs to go seeing videos and reading endless tactics in forums to have a chance of beating bosses in a 20-40 people group.

Don't even talk to me about grinding. You know what a pain in the ass it is to have lvl 25 paladins soloing deadmines, and I have yet to get the freaking ring I want because I can't win the roll in a group, and STILL can't solo it as a 32 druid? (ok, so I might be able to get to Gilnid if I don't screw up a pull in the foundry, but it's annoying as hell nonetheless).

Paladins are overpowered anyway. And you should be able to solo deadmines at about level 25 in bear or catform. Bearform is actually quite tanky if you're feral.
Just don't bother being anything but feral until you're 55+.

No, Verithrax. It's the "real world" forums. See at the top of the page where it says that? That means we can talk about RL things outside of Lusternia.

No, really, I can't. Feral Bearform, nearly 2k armor, Sneed ran me out of mana and almost killed me. Bad pull in the foundry, two engineers and the little robot things kicked my ass. Catform, bosses would beat the hell out of me.

Actually I started the post talking about WoW and other games I need to choose from, so talking about WoW is quite on-topic
But thanks for your worries!
