Richter, I was given the same directive by Celest, but was able to mitigate it by offering to block only the worst offenders who posed an immediate threat.
So instead of blocking all enemies of Celest (which would have cut off Seren as well), I was permitted to selectively block Athana, Kaervas, etc. Which worked out fine.
Maybe you can arrange something similar?
I actually got a similar message recently as well. Though, I don't think anyone really understands the full problem. We can block Daevos, Athana, and Kaervas, sure. But they just need to enter a magnagoran manse, go to the peak, enter a manse connected to celest while following someone else, and they're in. All the work of keeping them out is gone.

It seems more and more to me that Deepnight could easily be a great place for the neutral people to gather. Richter, perhaps you should speak with members of neutral Orders, specifically Lacostian's and Elcyrion's? See if you can organize debates, literary groups, intellectual discussions, et cetera in Deepnight?
Now there's an idea, I like that. I do have a stage and a library, might as well see if I can put them to some use. Might also have that captain's club I wanted put in there.

Also remember that entering a manse from the Aetherplex is always only two steps away from an organizational portal room.
Entering from the aetherplex isn't too inconvenient... I don't think you'll lose too much business from that alone. You can always let people know how they can get there, just by using another manse.
Try having your manse + store disappear from the portals for hours at a time.

This isn't aimed (pun definately intended) specifically at you, but see, it's not about convenience of those who want to go to Deepnight anyway. They're going to go to Deepnight. We know that. You see, if it was disconnected from everywhere, people who don't want to go to Deepnight wouldn't go there. Everyone who doesn't is potentially someone who does, and its status as a convenient way to get between cities draws attention from those people.

Offtopic, but Elryn - sell food for really high prices, then let random people in the commune pilot your manse, and you'll get plenty of business
But yes, no manse is really far away. Still, people who don't know it exists are more likely to find it if it is connected to their city/commune, and people are lazy.

The list of permissions on my chair is steadily growing... I think half the Hartstone can pilot it now.
But I like your thinking...

I was buying unfortified little dishes things from Ialie's shop before for 75 gold each - the kind that I needed to eat four of to get to utterly satiated even with satiation active

I understand that, and maybe you're right... but the main reasons someone would visit I would think are either shopping (and if they don't use the Aetherplex to see all possible shops at once they are silly), or because they have heard about Deepnight and are looking for somewhere to 'hang out'.

If Ricther really puts Deepnight before everything else, maybe you should take on hunting and tracking and quit Glomdoring so as to prove your neutrality. It would probably help, and then you could deny Glomdoring people as well as others who abuse the place entrance.

You're welcome, you're welcome. Even if you wouldn't sit still to look through all the rest of my fonts to see if there was one you liked better. Only going to Dragonwick, we didn't even get up to the E's!

Yeah.. if deepnight is supposed to be a city, then why is its leader apart of another commune

Cronnacht left? Wow...He was such a hard ass.
Huh? Hard ass? If anything Cronnacht was a push over. He used to fight with Merloch, Ibaesha, Skyla, Brylle, and even got into a snit with Lisaera over the Moondancers being too damn rigid and not showing enough compassion. Cronnacht worked his ass off for Jiriki and Yoninah because she was a viscanti and the Moondancers wanted her to reincarnate. He even convinced another Moondancer viscanti to reincarnate into an elfen so that she wouldn't be stigmatized or discriminated against. Hell he even warned Gwynevere when the SEG was about to jump her on Ethereal when she was still Queen of the Night. I spent my whole time as Cronnacht trying to mediate and encourage understanding. What some people didn't seem to understand was that Cronnacht was utterly and totally loyal. Once the High Priest/ess or High Wisdom laid the smack down on him he complied.
Cronnacht only acted negatively towards Ialie because of the stupid snit between her and Jairdan. It was my impression that Ialie and Cronnacht were personable until that whole damn fiasco. Cronnacht couldn't stand Jairdan and they fought constantly. I thought everyone involved was having a lovely little RP until I the player was attacked verbally on IRC and via tells and IM.
Anyway. It wasn't Cronnacht's manse I sold it to Folken. I almost wish I had waited because Malicia and most of the Celenwilders left a few days after Cronnacht did. Then I would have just tried to join Hartstone. Not that it matters because I wasn't long for a game where I endured as much OOC harassment as I did.

Richter, I have tremendous sympathy for you in this.. but it does look rather as though you're going to have to leave Glomdoring if you ever want to keep Deepnight independant in the public eye. I have to confess though, I don't entirely see the issue... every org has guards in their aetherplex.. why is there a problem? Divine fire has had its nerf. Why don't the orgs just put a decent quantity of guards in the aetherplex and stop harassing the manse owners..?
Daganev2006-02-16 20:19:23
I know that in Glomdoring the guards would do squat. Even if you placed 100 of them.
Arix2006-02-16 20:53:19
I say that it should be up to the manse owner as to who is allowed in the manse, and the organizations should mind their own damn business.
Ekard2006-02-16 20:57:57
Easy solution. ( Ok maybe not so easy.)
Admins could make that enemies of city/commune can't use PORTAL EXIT (city/commune that they are enemied to).

I've thought about leaving, but there's some things to consider, like the fact I was one of the many that helped start it, or that a bunch of my family is there, or the fact that I might get enemied for leaving. As amazing as it sounds, I've managed to stay unenemied to everywhere but two non-player orgs for a very long time.

Right, and here's the thing many people don't understand:
1. Deepnight is an aethercity, the only one of its kind, and it has a bigass tree in the middle. It's not at all like any of the four organizations.
2. Cities, in the traditional sense, are not inherantly evil, nor does my character think so. The Celestine empire screwed things up 500 years ago, but if someone was to start a new, real, player-run city on prime, they wouldn't nessecarily be "bad", even though everyone in a commune would think so. I think far too many people in communes say city=bad and don't think about why they are/were.
I may go merc, but we'll see. Oblivion is coming out soon-ish, and I don't know if I'll have the same hardcore availability as I do now. Further ideas are certainly welcome, I just don't want to blow a bunch of money if it's never going to get used. I'd planned to have all trade artifacts in there for people to use, and I'd never be able to. *shrug*
