Aquamancers can't harvest anyway.

Paladins can, but paladins can't guard, guard is totally something of the communes that can be used to monopolize certain herbs (especially if they overharvested). It would be like a glommy guarding a room in serenwilde, do you think that would rub well with Serenwilde? tongue.gif

Removed because I'm double checking.

What would it matter? If a Glomdorian guarded a room in Serenwilde, any Nature user could still harvest it.

Which just begs the question... why would any Glomdorian guard a room in the Serenwilde? happy.gif

The same reason anyone that isn't a herbalist would guard, to be annoying!

but say chervil one day gets very important and someone overharvests the entire glom region, and most of Serenwilde ... yeah I know far fetched but its near 3 AM and lost any rational thought while clicking on reply

there are a lot of places with 60 chervil and majoram (not sure about the last) guarded in Serenwilde. Also lots of guards near moondancer tower.

I don't think chervil needs accually replanting but thats that. Also I wonder if guarding on water is illegal (was wondering replanting a bit there but need to guard to prevent greedy people from stealing)...since it's the Aquamancer's territory tongue.gif

Celestian Herbalists have ASKED serenwilde herbalists to guard the plants on water in the past, including during the last time it went under hybernation.

It's not some sort of Commune Vs. City skill, it's a skill to prevent it from completely dieing out during hybernation.

ok, I'm convienced you have no clue what this skill does.

QUOTE
ab nature guard

Syntax: NATURE GUARD
Power: 1 (Any)
Cost: 1 mistletoe
Herbs and other plants are delicate creations, and you are able to protect them
from fire, taint or anything else that may harm them. This protection even
extends to preventing plants from going dormant during their natural yearly
cycle, though their rate of growth will still be negligible during down cycles.
You will also need a sprig of mistletoe to guard a location.

thats 1 power, and 1 mistletoe for 1 room

there is no Serenwilde Vs. Glomdoring as anyone with the Nature skill (Moon/shadowdancers crow/hart druids guilds) can still harvest while it is guarded.

The skill lasts from 20-33 hours (33 hours with Trans Wicca/Druidry)

It protects it from:

Greedy City Herbalists
Fire(only person who has ever set a forest on fire was Viravain)
Mage demenses
Death due to Hybernation(herbs die out very very quickly dueing their hybernation month, so if you don't guard a few locations you have nothing to replant from afterward)

It DOESN'T protect from:

Rival nature skilled herbalists (seren vs. glom)
Greedy Commune Herblists(yes they are out there, it's a type of player, not a trait based on charactor, some people just grab up everything they can without replanting, if anything this is the worst thing out there because these people can harvest in nature guarded spots during hybernation, effectively killing off the crop for next year)

I've had mass-natureguard once, because a Magnagorian herbalist with innocence was harvesting herbs in Estelbar down to 0, effectively killing off the whole crop in that zone.(you've got like a 5 second window to replant an herb you've just harvested, so if a whole zone is dead you're out of luck unless you've got an ecologist)

Edit:Before any of you ask, I'm not a herbalist, I just have a few friends who are in the seren/celest, and I get pissed when the greedy(insert any nation here) herbalists overharvest things without replanting, and wreak up the herb economy for the whole basin.

Umm, no.

It was the result of Valek trying to lead a charge against the White Hart. Literally 3 minutes before Valek entered, Raezon set fire to Northern Serenwilde. Of course, this was back in the day when scan required you to be in trees and scent wasn't even a skill yet so Valek tried to sneak in while everyone was running around trying to put out the fire.

And it might have worked except... Raezon is way too predictable at times, and I saw this exactly for what it was (although Raezon claimed it was in response to something Lisaera did to Magnagora, I think she sent an angry thunderstorm into the city or something). The second Valek entered, his ass got wisped and died. Magnagora then mass charged leading to a profound amount of Magnagora praying as they tried to monolith-path their way to the White Hart. Thanks to Dumihru being a genius, however, we discovered at that time monos didn't work in trees if on the ground so we would seize/wisp.

Anyhoo, they made their way to the White Hart, who then proceeded to insta-pwn the people who attacked him while others were wisped away to their doom.

It was, without a doubt, the most lengthy/botched raid ever.

Yes I know what happened in character, but on the forums at the time there was discussion/complaint about the uselessness of NATURE RAIN.
Unknown2006-02-23 18:23:00
They should make nature rain work the same as cleanse

I'm going to disagree.

I think the time where I led 20 or so people into Serenwilde to kill hart when Nikua quit Serenwilde and screwed stuff up for a few minutes was the worst ever. It was so bad, in fact, that it didn't even require players to defend. Totems destroyed us, and there's guards at White Hart. Also, Serenwilde fixed perms and stuff pretty quickly.

This is why I don't fight. happy.gif
