Shards != soul.

Faelings are not descended from an Elder God. Not even derivative. They have souls and spirits, just not Elder God shards.

Maybe they can never be Vernals, who knows?

Of course Faelings are descended from an Elder God...Elfenhoala was an Elder. You can't just ignore the other half of their heritage.

Where the hell do Centaurs come from, anyway? Are they Fae? Was there a Centaur Elder god? Centaurs fit in the 'They're not really mortals, or fae, or Cosmic beings, but if you kill them Serenwilde will kick the snot out of you and so we do not condone their killing.' category.

Centaurs actualy came to the Serenwilde from the Glomdoring, before it was tainted.

Thats known, Verithrax meant the full origins of them.

The divine spark influences the ability for both Vernal and Demigod (I think Hajamin told me ICly once) so this would mean if a human (without any shard) is able to reach demigod, they would also be able to reach vernal god, and it's safe to assume Faelings can do what humans can. So if Ekard makes demi, we will know.
Narsrim2006-02-19 00:48:24
The centaurs were lead to Serenwilde by the elder centaur Nintoba, who became a great spirit when he died and now protects them all.

So well... if he can become a great spirit... I'm somewhat guessing there is some mystery behind the centaurs that has yet to be revealed.

On a side note, let all recall those times when Magnagora would capture colts for their zoo and Nintoba would kick their ass with his magic spear and star-trek beam the centaur colt back to safety :reflects:

Yeah, I want to know where they come from. Don't tell me an elfen maiden had a very special night out with a horse.

Probably were a race that came from outside of the Basin somewhere, as basically every race, besides Faeling and Viscanti did so, since i somehow doubt that there is any true race that has only been in the Basin.

QUOTE(HELP FAELINGS)

4.14.5 The Faeling Race

Faelings are not descended from an Elder God. Rather, they are the cross
between an elfen and a creature of the fae. Faelings are almost always
raised in elfen communes, and are given special status by wiccans.

I just don't think they (or the other 3 races) necessarily have a Divine shard in them. Viravain appears to have said as much. There may be another reason by which they can reach Vernal, but its likely not because they're of a splintered Elder. I'm not saying that's the only interpretation, but its certainly no less valid than saying they are of a splintered Elder.

Anyway, I meant nymph-like, to go with the fauns. But Jasper correctly pointed out there was an ancient Faun goddess, so maybe there can just be female fauns. Not drunken satyrs... fauns. *nod me*

They are the cross between an Elfen and a Fae. Elfens are descended from Elfenhoala. Therefore, Faelings are descendants of Elfenhoala. The help file is contradictory. Besides, Elcyrion said that all mortals have shards, essence, and a soul, regardless of race. And Elcyrion is, by far, much less delusional than Viravain.

Faelings are a cross between Elfen and Fae. They're a new creation every time one is born, unique unlike all the other races of the Basin (except maybe for changelings... and sort of viscanti).

Shards don't necessarily get divided into progeny. Just because a Faelings mother/father is Elfen, doesn't mean that half spark of divinity automatically falls into the child. Otherwise, what happens when a Faeling breeds with a Faeling (if that is possible)?

If you are saying both the help file and Viravain could be wrong, its just as equally valid to say that Elcyrion is wrong. Not even necessarily wrong, just looking at 'shards' in a different way to the splintered essence of an Elder God.

I would love to see something that would let us rebirth yet not give is any real cognitive combat advantage like...
--Rebirth--
Once a mortal has reached the 50th circle, they can sacrafice their very being for a cause, at which point they would lose all of their power/karma/blessings/essence/etc and be reborn at the first circle. Maybe make it so when we are reborn we get -1 random stat and +1 random stat, but we can only be reborn one time? And it costs like 50 power or something...

As far as races...let me see...

Idaksil
STATISTICS:
Strength : 6 Dexterity : 13 Constitution: 15
Intelligence: 14 Charisma : 14 Size : 9

ADVANTAGES:
o Have a racial language, Idaksil.
o Regenerate health and mana outdoors (nightime only).
o Regenerate health lv 1
o Resistance to blunt damage, level 1.
o Gains equilibrium faster, level 2.
oSpecial: Upon gaining any weapon specialization an Idaksil becomes a Mishanti Idaksil with statistics changing by int-4 , con-1, cha-2 and size +4 str+8 . Upon gaining the Wicca or Druidry specialization an Idaksil becomes a Koruli Idaksil with statistics changing by size -1, int +1, con-2, dex+1, str -2, and cha-1. Upon gaining the Celestialism or Nihilism specialization an Idaksil becomes a Shinrak Idaksil with statistics changing by str-2, dex-2, size+1, cha-1, and con +1

DISADVANTAGES:
o Are susceptible to cold, level 1.
o Are susceptible to fire, level 1
o Are susceptible to asphyxiation damage 1.
o Are slowly drained of willpower during daytime when outside, lv1

Baiscally I would like to see alot more uniqueness among races, or maybe have a universal race, I would love to see like a rebirth thing implemented, or just anything to make races more viable for roleplay rather than stats. What if we could pay some disgustingly huge price and become a special type of Dracnari, because I am a Celestine? One of those prices could be that I am bonded to the guild and thus if i leave it I would CEASE TO EXIST! (dun dun dun...) Something unique and wow.

We need more uniqueness among races, and a new race would be really fun.

Do they have a level 1 health regen always, then an extra level 1 health and mana regen at night?
Simimi2006-02-19 04:18:54
I was thinking yea, but that might be really unbalancing...

How would having a 'universal' race encourage uniqueness? Everyone will end up being one.

Again, this is not about creating an uber-race of perfect stats... I'm more interested in what sort of RP races you'd like to play. smile.gif
Simimi2006-02-19 04:36:41
I would like to roleplay some sort of race with an affinity for night time, like infravision and such, or maybe some sort of unique city-faeling race.
We need a Batrace...I want to join glom and be so goth I shit bats, that is my new goal in life...that would be so cool.

I do like the idea of a race with more of a night affinity, like shadowy beings or just a race that dosen't like our old friend Father Sun.

And they could be sort of like liches, with advantages at night and disadvantages during the day

Titan represents the mortal 'reaching towards divinity' so yeah, there's definately some essence there. Shards of Yudhe's son as Verithrax said. Also, if I remember correctly, Melanchthon is a shadowlord faeling demigod.
Unknown2006-02-19 09:34:57
Basically since the race changes upon specializing with night, naturally they would be a more Glomdoring race, which gives a different choice to just Faeling, though i tried to make their stats, decent enough to be able to be used as a normal race. I was hoping for them to be a more like a tainted elfen, since Elfen were originally the only glomdoring race, though since they'd basically be Drow then, and drow are so used, i decided against calling them Drow, i was leaning towards Nocturesi, though i'm sure someone could think of a better name.

Statistics:
Strength: 14 Dexterity: 15 Constitution: 12
Intelligence: 15 Charisma: 12 Size: 12

Advantages:
o Have a racial language, *race
o Have level 2 Health and Mana regeneration (Outside, night only)
o Have level 1 resistance to cold.
o Have level 2 resistance to poison
o Native Specialization: Upon gaining the Night specialization, a *race* becomes a Darkened *race* with the statistics changing by -2 strength, +2 Intelligence, +2 Charisma.

Distadvantages:
o Heal more slowly from Elixirs {Day only}
o Heal more slowly from Herbs {Day only}
o Level 1 Electricity weakness.
