Illusions Skill - somewhere around Fabled
Syntax: WEAVE ROOF
Power: 3 (any)
Through great effort of will, you may temporarily create a roof over your head from an illusion. This will essentially transform the room into an indoor room for the duration of the effect, preventing all attempts to fly, touch cubix, and use any other ability that depends on being outdoors.
Thoughts? *waits for the smackdown from cubix owners*

How does it compare to brumetower?
Soll2006-02-19 12:45:25
I like this idea, actually. Around a five minute duration would be about, I think. More than enough to do any killing, too short to keep up permanently. Similar to Brumetower, though.

I have no idea how brumetower works. Someone clarify?

Sounds good to me, yay for dispell

I don't particularly like the sound of this skill. Preventing flying, ok. Preventing all outdoor skills... that's pretty powerful when used strategically.
If it is supposed to address cubixes being used to escape, then making them not work from enemy territory is better, in my opinion.

it sounds like a good idea, but it would probably have to be pretty high up in the skilllist and take a bunch of balance time, right?

I like it... but the thing about it is of course, that it isn't there it just appears to be. When you hide an exit you can still go through it... perhaps if you have trans arts/illusions.. it shouldn't work?
ferlas2006-02-19 15:10:47
Make it so it prevents flying and not effect any other out doors skill, then make it cost one or two power instead of three and then its fine.
I dont think that any other skill can prevent the cubix can it? Its a bit unfair that you could neturalise a 2000 credit purchase so easily.

the artifact doesn't advertise free easy escape route. They got conglut in limbo now, surely it won't be to much to have this, mage only, power costing, easily dispelled by another mage (and possible critique) skill to make escape a bit harder.

bleh! i'm sorry again, Shamarah, oi, i'm very very unobservant.

Again, wouldn't it just be simpler and more effective to have cubixes not work from enemy territory?
Xenthos2006-02-19 16:08:52
Only if it can't be stacked with Barrier. (Or if Barrier gets heavily hammered soon).

I still see problems with that, like not getting of Celestia for a raiding party (and reverse if cubix owner is Celestian)
however it would be nice if distortion stopped it, and the illusionary roof wouldn't harm much to a cubixer except if he is really locked in/hindered, if not they tumble one room, and cubix.

barrier doesn't prevent a critique/dispell does it?

So? If you're in a barrier'd room and you can't fly, wouldn't you tend to try to remove the barrier instead of the indoors?
Barrier's already strong enough, it really doesn't need anything that makes it more powerful.

There are ships now which make it easy to access enemy planes.
Also... don't you think they -might- plan ahead and put roofs in a few places?
I guess its not that bad... as long the communes get a corresponding ability. Theirs can be preventing teleport/tesseract/spores/hermit/cubix out of a room (though not blocking any incoming), by embedding a discordant note in the location or something. Be very handy for putting throughout an area we're expecting trouble in.
Edit: What happens if someone is flying when you cast it?

my guess is nothing, though can't fly in the room again
and I'm guessing these roofs stay up for 1 minute or so, not enough time to plan ahead and put roofs in several adjacent rooms.
Xenthos:
If I'm in a barrier with a roof and I would have a cubix, I'd take out the roof and cubix. If i can only fly, well if the barrier user isn't busy with someone else he'll just hexagram me before I can regain balance.

If that is the case, then I'd feel much better about the idea. It can't be used for any prolonged period to hide from outdoor effects.
