I thought all the Divine's companions were half-formed. Aestra was IIRC, so I figured Hinagar, Volucer et al. were as well.

Because he is a nifty Great Spirit from another world. Or at least, I remember Lisaera saying something to that affect.
And are the Half-Formed not exactly that... baby Gods who are stuck in their creches until they fully mature (which is never now that the Song has ended), and if they leave early they go insane? Great Spirits appear to be something entirely different.
And Shikari hinted that "insane" is a pretty mild word for these renegade Half-Formed... I doubt Hinagar would be willing to speak with you if he was one.
Narsrim2006-02-23 04:15:15
If Lisaera said he's half-formed, he's half-formed. End of discussion.
Shiri2006-02-23 04:17:14
I don't know if she -did- say that though, I seem to remember that SOMEONE said the god's companions were half-formed but all Lisaera said on the subject at the time was for Hinagar to calm down or something.
Lisaera2006-02-23 14:20:58
Hinagar isn't half-formed, and saying all Gods' pets are half-formed is both horrifically generalised and demonstrably untrue. Auseklis' pet is an igasho for God's sake, not to mention Volucer, Fain's direwolf, Raezon's angel, I could go on.
Shiri2006-02-23 14:29:56
I never even saw Auseklis' pet. Huh. Fair enough then.

I'm so glad to see this finally go in. It seems like we've been waiting for ages for it since the design was done, so kudos to all the admins who helped in putting it together.
My favorite thing about it has to be that the room layout (barring the fonts) is the Tree of Life itself, minus a few links that were impossible due to constraints on room exits. Kudos to Ashar, who designed the fonts themselves, which rock, while I amused myself with the Halls. Nevyn also donated a substantial portion of the comms used to build it, despite him having vanished on us, and he's commemorated as well on a plaque at the gates.

He's a great spirit. Spirits != half formed.
Miserable rodent.

Which tree of life design did you use to make the temple?
or
or
Nokraenom2006-02-23 21:31:20
I can't see the first, but the second doesn't seem quite right. I might be able to dig up a design map here somewhere....
Xenthos2006-02-23 21:36:22
More debate about half-formed! Less debate about bloody Cathedrals!
Daganev2006-02-23 21:39:08
Oh... Why should a paladin be insulted that they are taking on a less devout understanding of the world? And whats a paladin picking herbs in the first place? Real paladins don't use evil poisons and don't have time to be frollicing around the countryside...
If someone lives in celest and is taking on lowmagic they -deserve to be insulted!
good enough for you Xenthos?

What about the use of "good poisons"?
Daganev2006-02-23 21:44:22
The only good poision is glomdoring.. so Yeah thats fine!
Nokraenom2006-02-23 22:02:40
Ah, it's fixed now. I used the first Tree of Life layout, adding in connections for the Da'ath sefirah which don't exist. Tiferet and Yesod's paths (two "northeast", two "northwest") were obviously a problem, and had to be pruned down.
Daganev2006-02-23 22:06:34
Geurah and Chesed are supposed to connect to Tipheret through a East west connection. atleast in the books they are suppose to be on the same level. Hope you thought of that!
Does Da'ath not exist in game or just in the pictures I put up? I couldn't remember if Lusternia included Da'ath in the tree or not.

Da'ath doesn't exist as a skill in HighMagic in Lusternia, but does exist in the Silent Cathedral. Here's a diagram of the layout (drawn horribly in paint!):
I don't know a whole lot about the Tree of Life and the sefirah irl though, aside from a bit of casual reading here and there, so I didn't know about Tiferet being on the same level as Chesed and Geburah.

perty.
Nokraenom2006-02-23 22:17:58
Room #12 is Da'ath, which isn't clear from the pictures. The outlying rooms are the fonts, and the bottom rooms are the entrance and steps. There's also a sepulcher down from Keter.
Daganev2006-02-23 22:25:47
Just for a quick crash course in the "tree of life"....
Binah (wisdom) and Chochma (intelect) are the basic thought processes associate with the head. Some people like to add Da'ath (knowledge) to even out the "triangles" in the tree. (I think thas a chirstain thing, not sure).. I think in Lusternia, Da'ath is changed to Gedulah (which means Greatness)
Tiphereth means = beuty or more accuratly, balance.. its a recociliation or balance between Gevurah (strenth or Justice) and Chesed (Kindness)... Yesod (means foundation, as well as secret (hence being cloaked) is the combination of Hod and Netzach, ... Then Malchut(means kingship) and Keter(means crown) end up refering back to the same thing... so you end up with a nice simple symetry...
The architecture that you ended up choosing, I think interestingly fits that, since once you reach the end of Keter you go down, which is like the initial going down to malchut.... but meh, I'm talking too much.
