So... You want the single advantage that is afforded to those with natural wings?
...
Now i'm waiting for the double tradeskill artefact, Why are the gods so cruel? I just want to have alchemy and herbs.
Seriously Riding, Wicca, Crow, Celestialism, and Nihilism all have flight abilities the first two needing you to be mounted. And then you get pets which for 900 credits can be upgraded with various great things including flight and mounting (could someone clarify if it requires the riding skill or not).
Sorry if i'm wrong but with the exception of the trade specific artifacts aren't most artifacts designed for everyone? Anyone want to bet one the odds that the gods are going to add a new artifact just so a few people can get something that technically they can already get?

Riding sucks, and flying in riding sucked too.
Back when I had a collared legendary mount, I fell off every after single movement. One knockdown or web type hindering dismounts you too, so saying that 'oh you have flying in riding' is an utterly worthless argument.

Who cares about a flying artifact?
I WANT AN ARTIFACT THAT KILLS WAVES.
Please? I'd so pay lots of credits for this.

Yah, maybe update Brooch of the Tempest to stop not only being blown in the air but being moved by waves woo!
Arix2006-02-27 17:55:40
I personally am against a flying artifact, but that one about the waves, I would really love to see
Richter2006-02-27 17:57:09
I want an artifact that looks like those wings from Hot Topic.

That is exactly what the artifact should do

Yes because flying is so akin to herbalism isn’t it?
What may I ask was the point in you making such a silly statement that has almost no relevance with what we are talking about?

And yes you are wrong. I have no use for weapon runes being a wiccan, im sure guardians have no use for weapon runes and im pretty sure mages and druids don’t either, and as far as I know weapon runes aren’t trade specific artifacts.
And yes as you can see Aranya, a wiccan who as you have said repeatedly can already learn to fly, has infact said she would buy an artifact that let her fly much like a racial fly, which would be better than her current flying abilities for obvious reasons.
Artifacts increase our skill or abilities in different areas, a flying artifact would interestingly enough increase many peoples ability to fly saran in case you missed that point before.
Your only argument seems to be you can already get a form of flying, well so what? Ixion has a lovely little sacrifice artifact but two guilds can already do that, I could buy an artifact to increase my magical damage, but you know what I can also get in game blessings to do the exact thing, it doesn’t make that artifact useless does it?
As you have pointed out everyone can get flying via riding or guild skills, with this artifact everyone could get a better form of flying. And as everyone knows flying isn’t amazingly hard to stop, it isn’t overpowered in anyway. So Im just asking this again whats the problem with putting in a flying artifact? What do you actually have against a flying artifact at all?

Come on say why your against it this is the ideas forum be constructive...Unlike... the hot topic Richter
Arix2006-02-27 18:23:09
I can already fly racially, and have no intention of reincarnating anytime soon. Also, I'm sure that flight will be one of the Aeromancy skills when Hallifax comes back. As it is, an artifact that negates the annoyingness of waves would be far more useful to me

Because we like being special.
That, and flying is part of what "balances" races... I mean, the only reason for being Trill is the wings and the RP. An artifact that gives *everyone* with credits the exact same advantage...? I don't like it much. Of course, I'm not too happy that crow's cloak does this already...
Maybe a limited run of them, such as in another auction, would be okay... sell off five artifacts that let the buyer fly. But a general run-of-the-mill everyone-can-buy type, I'm against.
Arix2006-02-27 18:34:14
I agree with Xenthos. Make the light artifact very limited, maybe as an auctioned item

An artifact that increase magic damage is more useful to me than weapon runes dosnt mean we dont have them though.

Fair enough point, the roleplay would kinda suck "hey look at my new stick on wings."
Trill arn't that bad though combat stat wise and resistance wise they don't looks much different to me. And effectivly everyone can get the same racial skill as me.
Daganev2006-02-27 19:43:26
How can you compared spending 100 credits to fly, to naturallyy being able to fly based on your race or class?????
Thats like saying that Herbalists shouldn't have faster healing at trans because then that makes Igasho and Faeling bonsues not worth it or something....

Wave resistance should be part of waterbourne.
Verithrax2006-02-28 00:15:12
Aeromancers, when/if released will probably get flight, too. I don't see a need for this artifact; if flying is so important, you can buy a Dagger of Reincarnation and go Trill or Faeling, or just switch guilds for free.

Except that the herbalist bonus adds on to the faeling and igasho bonus. The crow cloak doesn't make faelings or trill any better at flying (and neither would this artifact). Slightly different things.
A more accurate example would be "removing Tumble because it makes roll useless". Still, in general, roll is better because furrikin tend to be smaller than most other races, though learning tumble itself if they put lessons into environment is somewhat useless.

Actually, Flying in Riding has an advantage over normal flight. You can fly on a mount with certain afflictions that would cause you to fall if you were flying normaly.
Though web and such will know normal flying people out of the sky too, so, if you had this artifact, you'd be in the boat. How is the argument worthless?
Daganev2006-02-28 00:38:22
Sorry bad example... But whats wrong with giving people the ability to fly if they want to buy a special artifact for it, when like you said, everyone can learn Tumble even though Furrikin get Roll as a special bonus.
