I know the combat skillset effects how much you dodge attacks in a stance but how about parrying cause it seems that even though I parry a spot 100% I barely block anything. Im only gifted so im trying to figure out if I need to invest in it later?
Daganev2006-02-23 22:18:00
I believe it affects parry also.

also got a question about the skillset. how long will a shieldstun last when at 14str? Also, how much of the opponents size is thrown into the equation? Anyone got the math?

is combat worth learning as a mage? and to what point?
Penelope2006-02-25 15:05:29
If you have a staff getting to weaponparry couldn't hurt. I parry quite a bit with my little athame dagger. biggrin.gif

Shield parry is lower and cheaper to get, assuming mages can use shields?

But either parry its great for all biggrin.gif, plus the better your combat the better your stances will protect you, someone said something like trans combat stancing legs makes them dam tricky to wound.
Aiakon2006-02-25 15:51:41
Yeah.. Mages use shields. Excellent. I'm going to learn a little more combat then.
ferlas2006-02-25 16:12:30
Gifted combat for shield parry, not to expensive at all.

someone answer my question about shieldstun! *prod*
Unknown2006-02-26 15:47:51
Shieldstun depends on both the attacker's strength and the victim's size, if I remember correctly
Laysus2006-02-26 15:51:57
Weaponparry is amazingly good.

Shieldparry is good, but weaponparry just tops it off.

wub.gif weaponparry.

balizar yoru stun at 14 strength will be nice, my aslaran shieldstun is pretty decent and you should be able to whore it

you really want shieldriposte, which is a high chance to stun them whenever you parry

I should be able to get 15 str pretty easy too. I'm looking foward to it smile.gif

Ferlas, with weaponparry you actually hurt the person you parry. Shieldparry you just block
Ialie2006-02-26 19:13:21
ANything in combat that helps with creature bashing?
Soll2006-02-26 19:27:08
Nope.

is that passive? or does it take an endurance or a mana cost or something?
Navaryn2006-02-26 20:55:19
Passive.

Absolutely. I recommend learning up to weaponparry if you have a staff.

Combat = your first and best defense against a competent Warrior enemy. That, or running the hell away. Completely useless against everything else, maybe excluding low rank skills like Envenom or Weaponprobe.
