Well with trans planar and the same way every other warrior gets up there.

Could probably pay Magnagora to grant you access to their kennels. They incitizen you, you request a dog, and then they outcitizen you. Would probably cost you a hefty sum, but their RP definitely allows for that sort of bargain.

This wont work. Dog stops listning to you after you quite city/commune.

And you can live on power from astral. I do it from some time. Only draw from Pool if i had to use some more power and dont have time for bashing on astral.

Or you could buy power from someone. There is enrgylink people.
Richter2006-03-01 18:45:27
Right, you can no longer use any commands on your wolf or dog other than basic mob commands, like follow and kill.

And yes, there's energylink. Now that I think about it, I could start a business. Drain power from a vortex to Glomdoring, link to the ravenwood (we're allowed to draw more if we add more), sell the power.
Unknown2006-03-01 20:18:09
have a question. lets say someone quits a certain commune. They have skills that take power from that specific commune. Lets say they start using up their reserves. Could they drain or energylink from someone apart of that commune and still be able to use commune-power-specific skills?

Unknown2006-03-01 20:20:32
I don't think that is possible Bali, though I'm not 100% sure.

I must say I'm very dissapointed that all the stuff about mercenaries I read in the help file for tracking was just there to make it look cool but Estarra and co. have no intention of letting anyone ever do it.
Unknown2006-03-01 20:28:19
It becomes general power. Whatever community your in at the moment is the type of power you have; if you draw from celest, and then move to magnagora, you still have megalith power.

Don't think of it as a certain type of power (because it's not), it's just power, period. However, if you belong to Magnagora, you can use Magnagoran power skills, or if you belong to Glomdoring, you can use their power skills. If you do not belong, you simply cannot use those power skills.

As am I.

Its about to what nexus you are alligned.
Richter2006-03-01 21:34:23
Which is essentially what I said in the post before yours. tongue.gif
Unknown2006-03-05 23:21:00
aye. Boo for making it sound like we get mercenaries.
Wish we did sad.gif
Shamarah2006-03-05 23:32:49
The main problem with mercenaries is that even if you somehow manged to get hired by organization A, you'd be raiding/attacking organization B, which means you're enemied to organization B which means they won't hire you which means you might as well just join org A straight out in the first place.

Well, I know its not quite the rogue ideal, but the helpfile is accurate in a different sense. A warrior with tracking doesn't have to be in any particular guild to function - they can move between any of the 4 organizations at will and still be 100% effective.

If you did it right, you could hire yourself out to whichever nation will pay you to help them. They citizen you for as long as the job lasts, and you go your merry way when you're done.

Yea, they dont lose any lessons when switching warrior guilds. All their traps are working.
Richter2006-03-10 17:36:24
I would go merc and not even sell my services, I just want my wolf to work. sad.gif
Verithrax2006-04-20 08:37:59
It's a pity they crippled the skillset for rogues. Maybe make it so a pet with an appropriate description can double as a hound?

Wouldn't work. Hounds can attack for damage which is considerably more substantial than an ordinary pet, and also "entangle" by biting. Hence an immortal pet which had the properties of a hound could attack indefinitely, or be used to eavesdrop at a locale without ever being able to be removed.
Richter2006-04-20 21:41:38
I don't think he meant "pet". Pretty sure he meant alternative to dog or wolf that rogues could get, that's not a 500cr+ expense.
Verithrax2006-04-21 00:35:54
If it got killed, it would be as hard to get back as an ordinary hound... How come we can't customize our hounds? All other IRE games get customized hounds or falcons.
Unknown2006-04-21 17:59:10
Unfortunately, though I think Estarra and the other admins want to make being a mercenary a possible and viable alternative, they have a lot of other things on their plates right now and this isn't likely to be a top priority at the moment. First they have to get envoy reports, them possibly do something to work up the Glomdoring, and whatever other projects they have to balance things that are already widely used. Then, hopefully, they'll get to working out problems with mercenaries.

I seriously doubt the accuracy of these statements.
