My best friend from college took a picture of our "macs are the best" friend using her computer to write a paper when his was on the fritz. We're currentally showing it to him whenever he makes remarks about computers. biggrin.gif
Edit:That game looks pretty cool as well, The "city" scale reminds me of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, where I always went Gaia, and then ended up using those worms on my enemies.

Mind worms>>>all

PLEAE PLEAE PLEASE, DON'T Associate Alpha Centauri with sid Meier... They made him sell his soul because he was a producer for it, but he didn't design the game.. gah that game was so imbalanced, and too easy once you figured out those imbalances.

Few comments...

In B&W, every action you did DID affect the Creature. The problem with B&W was that it was sold as an RTS/SIM instead of a Tamaguchi Program. As a Tamaguhi game, B&W is still fun to play, you just have to ignore all the things about villagers and being a god tongue.gif The interface itself was pretty aweseome.

Fable, I've never played.

As for grphic realism, the game would not be able to be pulled off if they used realisitc graphics. Since the game art is being produced procedurally, there will be many things made "wrong".. however in a cartoonish format, you can not see these mistakes as easily as you can if the picture is near photo-realims. (Final Fantasy Spirits Within had this problem, while Shrek and Toy-story did not)

I see this game doing very well with the Bejweled Crowd, and being ignored by serious gamers, and being picked up by serious games like sims was, only to be knocked for its Bejewled like gameplay a few months later...

but thats just me.

Oh and Amaru... Please keep your random pictures a bit smaller....

I personally think the term " Serious Gamer " has been seriously screwed with over the years. dry.gif

I have always been firmly of the view that AC was a brilliant game, far better than any of the sequels to Civ II.

I suppose so. I'm guessing it was Daganev or a god, neither of whom would appreciate being called an idiot.

Remember that the way you develop your creatures affects their future, I quite liked the inclusion of the second city on the first planet as it shows what potentially could happen if you choose one strategy over another.

You model the buildings yourself. I'm sure you can give it a realistically futuristic look.

Also, the model editors and whatnot look pretty simple; Will wanted a game in which people will make content without needing to be artists and deal with models and textures. I figure that means there will be literally millions of creatures floating around when the game gets going; just look at how many people made content for The Sims. Making Spore content is part of the game, and it's much simpler; creating your own content is one of the game's main selling points.

EDIT:
And the cartoony feel is definitely important because it gives people much more freedom to create weird creatures that have no survival value whatsoever and would just die instantly from gross anatomical inadequacy in real life. Besides, you *can* create things that look reasonably realistic, and the engine that controls creature movement is fairly 'realistic' - Like Will said, they have the advantage that since nobody knows how a three-legged, five-legged, one-legged or seven-legged thing is supposed to move, they don't have to worry too much about realism there, just focusing on getting the motion for familiar things like dogs, people, and centipedes right. An important thing is that the same code controls creature motion regardless of how many appendages it has; that's quite a feat considering how differently legged beings all move fluidly.

I actually really liked Black & White, one of my favorite games. Fable was good too, just too short. Still too bad my computer probably couldn't handle this *sigh*

I doubt it. With names like that, it was probably suicide... so with weapons, it would have turned into a Tomogachi-bine tongue.gif

Another problem I can think of, is trying to make a serious race, and you come across the race of another player who (inevitably) has conquered 500 galaxies with a race of super developed phallic beings. Then you get owned by him.
