Baldurs Gate one beat both bg2 and nwn

Nevarr! Nothing beats turning into a Green Dragon when fighting Beli, he dies faster than I can say 'U R NOB!'

I've got to say, I liked the ideas and some of the stuff behind NWN, but it just didn't keep me coming back to it like BG2 did. I still think the best Bioware RPG is Jade Empire though, it really cut away from the necessity of micromanaging every aspect of your character and party and got you hooked into the story and the quests and the world you were in.

Never played that...I'll have to look it up.

I always liked Planescape: Torment the best, though it has zero replay value.... I just really loved the story and the setting.

Oh, Jade Empire is xbox. No wonder I haven't heard of it.

Yeah, although I liked many parts of NvN, some parts irked me a bit...like no real conversation with your partymembers and all that. But still, it's nice to play with friends, especially if all are over ~30.
And I never played Jade Empire either, I saw an add once and though I'd get it, but....don't know. Never got around to it.
to Shorlen: Yeah, Planescape was damn neat too, but I don't know...maybe it was because I was too young or something, but it seemed too damn hard. But some things are just classic, like the intelligent rats and the tattoos and all....I guess I'll dig it up again. <.<

NWN was lame. Seriously. After the legend that was BG2, which kept me coming back on my knees for more like a crack addict, NWN was a total letdown. The conversion to full 3D just didn't work. At all.

The storyline was so thinnn. And there was like no decent character interaction. Bleh.
Plus I tried online, which sucked on it. Although BG2 didn't even really HAVE online to speak of....but yeah.

Ohhh that was great the story was really sad and tragic at the end though especially with the little half deamon girl I cant remember her name now though, good story definatly.
EDIT: Meh baldurs gate 2 was to restictive compared to number one I thought, good game all aroung but I just loved number one so much more.

Yah, it was COLD. NWN was like... more Zelda than Baldur's Gate. The interaction was poor, the atmosphere was dead, the graphics were chunky even on max settings, the world wasn't convincing, the levels were repetitive, the characters looked stupid, the movement was awkward, the interfaces were disorientating, all the terrain and buildings looked the same. It didn't feel like DnD. Yuck.
Laysus2006-03-05 21:10:05
NWN was brilliant. Especially with the second expansion pack.
*plays... plays it again... and again... and again...*
Nothing like an obsecenely hard fighter/weapon master with scythe >.>
Yay for crits for 150 damage at level 15.
Also, boo to those saying Planescape: Torment had no replayability. I've completed it so many times.
And I thought BG2 sucked, I got bored of it after half an hour

You know when you hear something, and it opens up a whole massive memory you didn't know you had? Warbeeds. Damn. What an intro. They don't make games like that any more.
Shiri2006-03-07 02:31:37
*looks it up*
Daganev2006-03-07 02:33:51
I've given up on RPGs ever since torment had that quest bug that got you stuck in limbo if you went there to early, or killed people the game wasn't designed for you to kill, and in arcanum when I solved a quest in a way the designers did not intend and couldn't move forward in the game.
ferlas2006-03-07 10:24:21
There was also the bug with the last fight with the angel if you hit him to hard it all went wrong and he died before he could talk.

KOTOR > Jade Empire
As much as I enjoyed running around as the beefy Tiger Shen, I think I enjoyed much more adventuring around the universe with a band of misfits. KOTOR was brilliant, and so was Jade Empire, I just think KOTOR had more umph to it that Jade. Bah, who I am I kidding both are equally awesome. I Bioware. Damn, such awesome characters. Death's Hand. Bastilla. Revan. Sagacious Zu.
Wonder when KOTOR 3 is coming out... I know Bioware wont have a hand in it though
Hm, since I'm rambling on about xbox games, everyone who hasn't played Deus Ex: Invisible war, or Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, run as fast as you can to your nearest blockbuster
Btw, NWN sucked ass. (expansions included) Felt like a diablo bash-a-thon to me.
