Beam should not work into stockrooms. Unite doesn't and it takes power, so why does beam?
Resurgem should not give grace. Grace is overused and overabused - I don't see why Resurgem needs to give it.

How about this.
A new artisan item, or an artifact that diffuses light--maybe a prism or a gem or discoball--okay, not a discoball--that would diffuse any beams. This is akin to a monolith sigil, but for moonbeam. And assume all stockrooms automatically have this item.

That would be a complete nerf to the skill making it completely and totally pointless...

As for whatever reason the admins seem to reject the restriction on beaming to stock rooms
Sooo, it would be nice to have a moon/night ability that sets up a room so it cannot be beamed to.
While yes it might be more appropriate to have one or the other, this means that the wiccan guilds can provide the service of protecting store rooms, also perhaps a power cost attributed so that shadowdancers don't go around putting it up all over the place. Long lasting with maybe a small room desc "The darkness of mother night fills this location" "The light of mother moon saturates this place"
Sending the message back
"Your moon beams can not pierce the dark aura of the night there"
"Your moon beam is absorbed by the moon light present in that place"
Of course not doing anything but blocking all possible beams into the place, handy in a very limited way.
That or something quick that could ward of moonbeams... such as a the prism Phred suggested but perhaps as a held object that your would be able to reflex perhaps... brandish prism
"You brandish the prism, the moonbeam scattered into a rainbow." (for ialie )

I strongly disagree with this as well, as it completely nerfs the Beam skill making it worthless for everything. Maybe as an artisan skill that can only be put in indoors urban locations with permissions like any other artisan item...

This is the reason we have envoy reports you know, the ones that have JUST been submitted no less.

Good point.
Though of course, Narsrim did say he put in the envoy report in the theft thread in idiots, so I guess most of this is a moot point.

I don't quite get it... but really if your not beaming to someone with permission then you still run a good chance of not being able to beam (prism idea, not room-effect)

Room effect would be better or everyone in magnagora, glomdoring and a good bit of celest would be walking around with moon beam immuniuy, a version that stops moonbeam like a monolith stops teleport would be fine though
tsaephai2006-03-02 20:35:52
what about an item/ability that can stop from moonbeaming OUT of locations, rather than just stopping moonbeaming in total?
EDIT: i mean something kept on the person, because if it was an ability that was applied to some rooms it probably wouldn't be useful enough for people to buy them and put them in the rooms or to go and use the abilities in all of glomdoring or magnora or celest or something.

Then you could still moonbeam into a shop, and then heartstop / quit / whatever to get out with the items.

Why not just make the discoball furniture, so you can put it in guildhouses manses and shops/stockrooms. And give Artisans a bit more business.

He's got project's set up and everything for it, you should know that.
Also monolith's double the time of beam, so there is already a sigil that helps counteract the skill.
Oh, and if you don't want the beam to come through just move, sometime in those 12 seconds.

That basic idea sounds good, but If I see an actual discoball anywhere Im going to crack up.

I would just get my disco boogey on.

Beam requires a person as a target, Unite can be done to items (or to a person or to a denizen).

Solution: Make moonbeam not work indoors.
Actually, this just makes sense.
