Felt a little bored, so I wanted to know what people have been thinking of the plots recently and their own thoughts on the type of events driven.
Verithrax2006-03-05 02:21:25
I like events that have lasting and interesting effects on the game world. Doesn't have to be a new area/feature/skillset, but some new information, some more backstory on a Divine, or even a change in the relationship between gods or organizations. I also would like seeing more events which intimately involve players or player-created organizations.

I like ones where we can all be friends.
And when I can wander into Mag for explorer's rankings too.

Its amusing when people are forced to work together, cause we dont work very well together and end up causing mini-disputes. Kethuru was a great event.
Shamarah2006-03-05 02:51:20
The Types of Plots I like best are... Those that bring some sort of conflict
Do you like the little bits of whimsy in the plots, such as the Aethership gnomes?... I don't care either way
How do you like your plots setup?... I like it when it brings major organizations into conflict, like the recent Roark event or the Hunters that introduced Hunters and Ecology.
Arix2006-03-05 02:52:29
Good ol' Kethuru
Tsuki2006-03-05 03:33:26
I chose "Those that general add to the roleplay along, without any cool stuff" and then the ambivalent response for the next two, because what type of plot it is has a difference with how people from different areas interact with each other during it.
For most things, it's just bizarre if the whole Basin decides to ignore everything else about conflicts they have with each other and work together "because it's an event." At the same time, some events seem to be to open up new things, so they can't/shouldn't be unhappenable. There are a few things that it does make sense for those of different areas to work together a bit on, though ... just not most things.
And I love little things, learning more about something, having just a bit of interaction or seeing things happen. I love hearing the Divine talk to each other on shouts, even if nothing much is being said and it's just seeing the interactions. I love gleaning little new tidbits of information dropped in conversation over the Order aetherwave. I love wandering around in a village at denizens or being at guards or having one of the fae I called start talking or something a bit.

I'm not too keen on conflict during events mostly because 'conflict' is the normal state of affairs - We're fighting and getting killed all the time. Events can sometimes provide a nice break from all that, and they force people to reevaluate their characters' relationship with the rest of the world, instead of just being another excuse for killing people. I don't think events which are conducted through fighting or questing are interesting, since the game already provides that enough. I like events in which RP matters, instead of who has the most tanky fighters online at the time.

I qouted this for a reason:
Events that dont have a good reason for people to come together seem sometimes very odd...
But events like the Kethuru one, where at first Magnagora tried to go along with Kethuru and got shoved away, and then they joined because Kethuru would have destroyed them as well are good. Serenwilde and Celest would have right off the bat tried to stop His full arrival in the Basin once again because the Celestine Empire is considered fairly recent, and Kethuru is known to them as pure dangerous and deadly. So it seemed more, when you look at it from that point of view, that they were working together to preserve their conflicts and prevent their own downfalls.
Hazar2006-03-05 04:06:17
Anything that adds to the game and makes it more than just a killing field or economics simulator is amazing.

ya but random things, like:
...oooh it's a weird mound on the peak, we should all become friends and either kill those who add things to it, or kill those who kill those who add things to to it.
It was getting really silly there for a little while.

S'why I left after I suggested using powerstones and had Narsrim talk down to Diamondais on how shes lost her ideals and shes doomed and only came back when the event finished. It was amusing when Bob admited to fearing gnomes all this time, but irritating to feel some sadness that will show my character will never ever be accepted by many people.

I think that the mini-event which involved Elryn, done recently by Viravain, was one of the most awesome things the administration could have ever done, even if it annoyed a lot of people. I'd love to see this happen to other people; maybe make it so that an informal reward for contributing a lot to Lusternia (Buying lots of credits, being a good mortal builder/guide for a long time, being an important member and contributing a lot to a guild/city/commune/order, just before you're preparing to deactivate to be an Ephemeral, or even just for being a great roleplayer and helping everyone else have fun) is having a little mini-event structured around your character (I'm pretty sure that, since Elryn guided what happened in Serenwilde, that didn't take a lot of planning like a full event, but I may be wrong.) Or even play some important part in a major event.
Oh, and I think that when/if Gaudi and Halli are released, the people in the Tirita/Barosi should, by default, be made city leaders. Some of them are in it because of that, but most are in it just because of their roleplay, and those two organisations should be given something for their efforts, and for working hard to completely subvert one of the things that were assumed in Lusternia (That Hallifax people and Gaudiguch people hated each other). they did that with some above-average RP, and every last one of them deserves taking part in the cities' return, even if they don't stay in charge after they are back.

No, the leaders of Gaudiguch and Hallifax should probably be chosen on merit. Bad things happen when bias due to involvement gets involved, as I'm sure many people are painfully aware.
Verithrax2006-03-07 15:57:52
I know the Tirita from the inside, and I know most of the higher ups in it definitely have merit. I don't want old grumpy players who have been at it from day one and were city/guild leaders elsewhere being thrown into it.

Thankfully you(verithrax) aren't going to be a majority of the players in those cities when/if they are released.
Oh, and have you ever considered that those cities, if they even ever are released, might already have big populations? Since they are already frozen in time, they already have some ministers/City leaders alive, and as far as the populaces are conserned, those people are still in controll.
It's like making a clan about Estelbar and then asking Yojimbo to step down.
Actually I think it would be pretty fricken awsome if they were released as NPC cities, that had high godly attention, and worked similarly to Villages, maybe they could "ally" to you, and trade with you for things, and your nation could get things from them in return. They'd enemy, and have gaurds and stuff, and quests and so forth. That I think would be more awsome then opening them to all the players.
Plus it sort of annoys me that all these people in those clans have pretty much already said "Yup I'm abandoning my organization the MOMENT that one opens up, yup I am!" I mean how much can you really trust those people IC, as a Charactor.
