Back to Common Grounds.

I agree with Shorlen.
Shyshaeia2006-03-05 18:41:26
Yeah, I would say fast, but not boring. We need to see what a influencing with Diaruchi or one of the other pairs will be like first. Im reserving judgement till then.
Estarra2006-03-05 18:45:22
Shorlen, I understand what you are saying, but I want to see a few cycles on how this new system works before rushing to judgment. Remember, everyone did start off a neutral this time! It could be a much different story when village feelings have time to mature. This is a different system and may some time to get used to as well as needing a few tweaks.

EDIT: I agree it went to fast, that is one of the first things that will be tweaked once I have a chance to touch base with Roark.
Verithrax2006-03-05 19:05:09
Only one of the influences is three-way, the mining villages. All others have two villages, and they will be points of conflict, specially Estelbar and Acknor; since neither Celest nor Serenwilde want Acknor.

Who the heck would want vile twisted and tainted orcs, anyways? unsure.gif

People who are vile twisted and tainted themselves, but see themselves as kings of the basin.

Don't village feelings only really go up? Won't it be even faster next time? The problem is the lack of conflict encouraged by this system, which in turn leads to trivially short influencing. I don't see making influencing harder and take longer as the solution, as that will make the few times there IS a serious fight over a village, like Dairuchi, take forever.
Ekard2006-03-05 19:23:26
For me it wasnt boring.

It was fast in Rockholm and Ankrag. Cose it was only one side who were influencing.

In Southgard, it was longer but we had a much more advantage in muber ovwe Glomdoring.
So lets not judge at so early point if this influencing was indeed too fast?
Daganev2006-03-05 20:00:13
Did they reduce the down time between influencing the same mbo?
Cwin2006-03-05 21:09:48
The mining villages are always 'odd'. Really, you don't truly need more than one of them anyway (if you can get all of the dwarves) so there isn't must incentive to get both at the same time. As such, it makes sense that it went the way it did, even the Glomdoring/Celest battle in Southgard.

The other villages won't be as easy to determine. Even Estelbar will be interesting, I bet. We'll see.

I don't mind shortish village influencing rounds. After about an hour or so of influencing I want to go beat my head on the wall in my bathroom and usually log off out of frustration and aggrivation.
Sylphas2006-03-05 21:46:50
LOVE the change to governing. Now when I make all of Acknor paranoid, it actually does something. Not that we're likely to ever take Acknor, but it's still cool.
Unknown2006-03-06 00:10:32
I like the new governing styles, they are nifty.

As far as the revolutions go, I still wish they were random pairings. I don't like the constant groupings at all, and I suspect things are going to get awfully predictable.
Vix2006-03-06 00:16:12
Hm. So every revolt will be thirty minutes max with the exception of Dairuchi which will be four hours long at least? I don't like the change too much but I'll wait a see how it turns out before making further judgement.
Rhysus2006-03-06 01:35:08
Looks like Glomdoring was pissed about not getting any of the mining villages and h4x3d the Gibson mainframe to reset them. sad.gif

We were actually in Southgard ready to start when it said *Do not influence*. ninja.gif

I knew you were somehow to blame, Xenthos. Just wait, I'll get you, when you least expect it. Like when you're singing in the shower. Or when you're trimming your hedges. Yeah. Except it won't be either of those, because now you're expecting those. FEAR THE UNKNOWN!

You'd better hide in the shower and sing for all eternity.
Xenthos2006-03-06 01:40:15
That, or develop a sudden fondness for hedges.
