It'd be spiffy if certain "revolutionaries" in those cities rose up to fight the players. "Get the hell out, we're independant now."
Shorlen2006-03-06 06:17:16
Again, another influencing where the new system didn't matter one smidge.
Noone WANTS Acknor except Magnagora. Given the choice, the other three orgs would MUCH perfer Estelbar. So, a couple Magnagoras stayed in Acknor and got it as a free village. The rest of us influenced Estelbar exactly the way we would under the old system - it was just as if Estelbar revolted, and Acknor didn't do a thing.
What's slightly imbalancing is that there are two villages that only a single org wants. Noone else will go for them.
Maybe a better pairing would be Estelbar and Dairuchi, Acknor and Angkrag? This isn't based on commodities, but on desireability.

..to many in a row. Influencing = not fun.
Viravain2006-03-06 06:30:10
It's not supposed to be happening this quickly, if you couldn't tell. It'll be fixed as soon as possible.

Oh, I thought it was just that it was the beginning of the cycle again. That's even better. *is exhausted already*

Ialie2006-03-06 06:36:12
I should have shorlen suggest a village that mimics the world of Lisa frank.

I knew it. Athana's trying to drop Magnagora's population with high cholesterol, while You're just trying to kill the players behind the characters. It's all one big plot.
Unknown2006-03-06 07:26:27
Wow, two villages at once is alot..... Of course the villages might be a bit more spread out now, but it doesnt look like it will change too much.
Shorlen2006-03-06 09:15:45
So far it's been someone getting a free village, then fighting over the remaining one, every time. People go for the one they want the most, and ignore the other one. One org wants that other one, takes it, and jumps on the other village.
Here's an idea - how about none of the villages in revolt pledge themselves until ALL villages revolting at the same time area ready to pledge? So, even though only Magnagora influenced in Acknor, Acknor doesn't go out of play until Estelbar is also ready. This way, the org that dominated the first village can't just ignore that village after a bit, they have to keep at least some watch on what they've taken, creating a bit more negative feedback.

So when Acknor/Angkrag went up, Serenwilde influencers can get a break because we wouldn't be interested in either, and the fighters can go muddle the waters?
What might be interesting is if sometimes places went up in their triple/pair and other times just one would decide to break loose and revolt independently again, to add a bit more randomness. But, um, hopefully not have something like Delport go up independently, and then the next day or two later Delport and Stewartsville together

Phew, that's a relief ... hopefully it's fixed now! Still kinda fun being paranoid and maintaining watch on what's left, though

Day 1:
Stewartsville
Estelbar
Paavik
Day 2:
NOTHING WOOT!
Day 3:
Rockholm/southgard/angkrag
(wild nodes)
Estelbar/Acknor
Delport/Stewartsville
11 major events in 3 days is a bit much
Shyshaeia2006-03-06 17:20:40
Yeah, I really dont like how each faction has its own favorites...and I learned the only reason for this is because said faction is use to having a particular village, no other reason really. There's got to be some way to make Acknor or Angkrag or any other tainted village something a faction other than Magnagora or Glomdoring would want.....thing is I dont see how....

Mrs Trundle says, "Cease and desist, Seren pig-dogs! Estelbar is for the furrikin!"

I disagree. Glomdoring tried to take Angkrag from Magnagora before and Celest even took Acknor from Magnagora once (you can even forbid slavery from Acknor if that is the problem stopping you from influencing it).
The 'imbalance' is caused by the players, not by the mechanics. Only the players can solve that.

Not entirely true. Due to certain factors, such as Estelbar being peaced, it makes more sense to give it a shot.
RP-wise, Glom doesn't really have any more of an attachment to one over the other... they're both villages which can be forced to serve the mighty forest!

Ah. Given a very good shot at Acknor, everyone went for Estelbar instead. I thought it was because noone wanted the village - I guess Glom, not full of idiots, just perfers peaceful influencing when outnumbered three to one.

Given the option of trying to fight Daevos and co. in Acknor (when we had just played in violent Southgard), or trying for Estelbar when our numbers were pretty much even to Seren's for much of the time and way ahead of Celest / Mag (until Acknor caved)... yeah. It's not a tough decision.
Iridiel2006-03-06 18:09:26
eh... how many revolts were there? You talk about different villages...
