Why does Moonbeam work indoors?
Magic.
You can explain anything using the word "magic"!
Go me and my explanations! It's like how Legolas never runs out of arrows... he has a -magic- quiver!
(Please don't kill me, Tolkien freaks.)

If we're going to take away the commune advantages (Flow, then prenumbra/moonbeam), then we'd better take away chanting in peaced villages too. That'll leave us all without any special skills, and we'll all be happy, right?

Didnt a bunch of people ask for villiages to have all force taint/forest/flood/wyrm removed when a revolt starts to give everyone a level playing field?

Yes, please.
EDIT: And Narsrim I only had 19 charisma which is less than many of the people I was debating against

Isn't teleport a "violent" action?

Yep, it's as violent as walking, which needs to be nerfed. I mean, walking is on it's own balance, which is like, .5 seconds. That's so overpowered.

You're probably thinking of Summon. Teleport isn't considered a violent action at all.

I'm one of those that would like all the existing flood/forest/wyrd/taint to be removed when a village goes into play. So everyone starts off on a level playing field.
Daganev2006-03-07 03:21:29
Ahh, just shows you how much I use that skill!
Almost everytime I need to "teleport" somewhere, its the other person who needs to teleport and I summon them... so yeah.

Nerf all the skills in the villages in revolt. Only allow the players to tumble and throw popcorn at each other. Also, debating.

Ya definitely long revolts are always tiring on me. I enjoy debating now that it's been fixed to not favor the defender however diverting, running from a debate, and having the terrain remain still is annoying to me...
In Estelbar I sat at Trundle for a long time and debated out almost everyone in the room just so they would quit diverting, after I finally had her all to myself others started flowing in just to divert and quickly flowed away as I tried to debate them... grr it was so frustrating because there was really nothing I could do about it
Which is just as annoying to us when you ran around to three differant named people diverting them all, and we had to sit at them trying to keep doors closed, or insta-debate you trying to keep your ego down from full.
Debating/diverting is kept in check during hostile revolts, because people keep dieing, and having to come back, and only really gets bad a few times.
After seeing a bunch of peaceful revolts I'm glad -something- is going to happen to change diverting(though I feel 50% ego is going to favor the cities even more, seeing as they can restore their ego much faster, and it'll throw the favor even moreso to chanting teams). Trying to influence, when it's like 8 top Seren's Vs. 1 Mag Demi in a room is bloody annoying and they just chant/sip/eat sparklies and divert every single round, even while debating.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure laetitia got changed a long while back to have it's own sort of balance, so that 12 people can't all chant on one guy and keep him constantly full. At best, you have the benefit of one chanter per influencer/debater, which isn't really so overwhelming. I've definately gotten ego crushed and lost mob debates even with a chanter on odd occasions.
As far as Divert, I "Idea'd" a long time ago that it should be lowered or changed somehow, so that more people would have access to it, as I saw how ridiculously important it was to influence and kept seeing Celest one-upped by people just walking in and diverting when none or few of us had the skill.

Thus nerfing the Influence skill in Mage Demesnes for peaced villages... because you can't have a demesne without flood/forest/weird/taint.

Laetitia can be used by novices and people who are shattered, so you essentially always have a chanter per influencer. According to Anisu's numbers, chanting heals as much as sipping. In a fight, regen (sun, beauty, moonlight, penumbra) is negligable, as shown in the numbers I posted in another thread. Thus, city influencers have double the ego healing of communes. Assuming that one's opponent has a chanter, the only way to win a debate is with an instakill. Do you know how hard it is to instakill Athana? I'm not sure how much a hit increases in power now, but let's assume each successful hit increases the next hit by 300 (used to be 100). This means you need about 25 successful offensive hits on her to win. That's a lot. That also takes a very long time. Assuming 1/3rd hit, that's 75 hits, at what, 3 second balance? Let's say 4 seconds, because you have to go slow to sip up your ego when you fail too much. So, that's five minutes. Assuming she never ran or attacked back, it would take five minutes to debate out Athana, on average. Debating her out means she's out of the influencing for 10 minutes. So, assuming she didn't just run near the end, you'd need to spend five minutes to knock her out for ten, with a very good chance of being knocked out for 10 yourself. And in those five minutes, she'll likely ignore you.
Meh, I just want divert to be changed really, as per the envoy summit. The double healing of cities is something we've gotten used to.
I just wish you couldn't chant while shattered

I guess the question I would have is if a village is revolting, it is seeking change, is it not?
So I would think the village would be less receptive to the former ruling faction and potentially other factions that have the same style of rule, albeit in differing degrees. Where outside factions and those with different ruling styles would have better influence, nothing drastic but a definite dynamic to consider. I think with something like this, influencing wouldn't be so cookie cutter in the results. Numbers obviously will still pretty much rule the day though.

While we're at it, why does it count as grace abuse from Terentia when I go onto Celestia and hand out 5000+ gold to the defenders and leave again, then during influencing, it's fine for people to use it to debate others out, risk free?

Just 1 chanter is all you need to overwhelm others, as it effectively doubles your ego restoration.
If Divert now takes 50% of our ego, it'll be all the more important to get that ego up faster, and with a chanter that will be able to be done twice as fast as without one.

That is something you should issue yourself about, or email support, because here the only thing you'll get is being edited out or ignored
