The problem here isn't Celest specifically, it's the states of the Basin, period. The whole game has been built up into such a 'us-verseus-them' scenario that it allows griefers and general nitwits (read: Thoros) to run around wrecking merry havoc, as long as they do to the 'enemy'.
Though it might be difficult to bring about IC, we need some sort of 'Geneva Convention'.

I personally think Celest is looking pretty nice now, as compared to say, late December, as I have said many times on the forums. Our city is doing pretty good now, we're nice and well off, all thanks to the work of many of us, working together, for one goal.
Isn't it sweet?
Love-mimi
I agree. I like Ixion (even though I'm a little annoyed at the thread title), but one fighter that we probably aren't getting that we might not have gotten anyways (anyone else notice that people consider going to Celest forever, but one minor thing changes all of that in a heartbeat) isn't going to ruin us. As people have been saying, Catarin handled it perfectly reasonably for her role, so take out your rage on Thoros or something.
Unknown2006-03-09 00:20:48
I actually think Catarin could've handled it better.
Not that I want her job or anything... but my interpretation of the Light of Celest, and our values, is that we do what is just and right. If that means believing a Tainted adventurer, so be it. Remember, the Taint is not "evil", it is a corruption of the people who were once the citizens of the Holy Celestine Empire. Therefore we can consider it an illness corrupting their bodies and minds more than anything "evil". So why should we treat the ill-afflicted worse than those who are part of our own city? I see no good reason. At the least, we should have held a trial and allowed a vote for it, rather than handling it immediately there and then, with such haste and rashness.
Not to mention, even if you do interpret the Taint as "evil", is the Light not still the Light? Being a follower of the Light means that we do that which is right and just. Ignorance is no excuse.

Lady Terentia would likely smack you if she heard such foolishness IC. Celest, like all organizations, tends to its own. Thoros does have more rights than Ixion. He has more say. This isn't injustice, this is a by product of Thoros working for Celest, helping Celest, and overall being a citizen whereas Ixion is a former perma-enemy who got a lucky second chance (he has helped slay angels, Supernals, citizens, etc). Likewise, the Taint is not "evil" from an objective viewpoint. Celest isn't objective. It certainly is an anathema to them and for them to treat it otherwise would be distasteful in my opinion.
And the reason you should treat the "ill-afflicted" worse than those who are part of your own city is that they seek to infect you or kill you.
=====================================================================
And finally, there is no need for a trial (although the idea would be interesting if executed properly). Catarin's decision is (to my knowledge) supported by the city council. She doesn't need nor would it be an effective strategy, to poll the general populace everything like this comes up or Celest would be stuck in a referendum nightmare.
If her decisions bother you, contest her IC.
Shamarah2006-03-09 01:21:49
Catarin seems to have an obsession about council referendums, actually But this was a fairly straightforward matter.

I am sick and freaking tired of hearing that "We are the city of light we must do right and protect the innocent and help old ladies cross the street blah blah blah".
What ever happened to the good old CONVERT OR DIE!!!! I would love to see celest go that route, I am sick of hearing people talk about being good and crap over ct,
Back on topic, while I would have loved to see Ixion in Celest I must say it would have been bad Rp to take his word over thoros, even if he is not the most trustworthy of people.

Insert Ixion's original post.
Wahh wahhh harden up princess, heres a tissue for that issue.
On a more serious and non-Murphy note, Ixion, I killed those Ur'dead and Krangar just to get inside the catacombs. If I were there to really bash Ur'dead, I woulda cleared it. Also, me and Telum killed Krangar and those Ur'dead about an hour or two before you even showed up.
Me and Telum popped in and out of catacombs cause Telum had to 'fix' something..
Really, boo hoo Celest doesn't really give a flying whip about you joining or not. Good combatant? Sorta, just pure heavy damage to quickly take out untanky people.
And me linking goats on astral...yeah I did that. And yes I can clear anything on astral I link with attack/fly method, due to my fast mugwump cosmicfire. You were just looking for a reason to kill somebody.
QUOTE(Athana @ Mar 8 2006, 04:47 PM) 267434
Unprovoked on Astral? haha..he was linking up a storm and even -shouted- something along the lines of "GO FORTH MY GOAT ARMY"
That was during wildnodes.
QUOTE(Iridiel @ Mar 8 2006, 05:09 PM) 267453
I am no so sure you can check how many goats had spawned at a said moment.
But I guess you could have told Catarin about the nice sarcastic tell you recived right after being enemied, as a proof of how his citimate was using enemiying just to satisfy his lust for revenge.
My remark was not sarcastic.
QUOTE(Iridiel @ Mar 8 2006, 06:01 PM) 267497
I don't want to be nasty but...
Celest needs good and strong fighters, specially due to the fact that their best fighters are actually from Serenwilde.
Somebody has to stop Nasrim and his army of gorgogs
Yeah, really, we need to take more Serens and get em in Celest.
((Pretend there is a large space here.))
Or not really. We have enough fighters, and we can hold our own now. Sham, Ekard, Amaru, Vesar- weren't from Seren.
QUOTE(Xavius @ Mar 8 2006, 08:14 PM) 267585
Because Ixion is an upstanding individual, albeit tainted, and Thoros is a scumbag, albeit a crusading one?
Or really...Ixion the scumbag, and goofball really, to be enemied to Celest after something so petty. But thats the way the cookie crumbles, and Ixion crumbled the wrong way.
I'll take that 'crusading one' comment as a compliment. Good to see those active against the Taint.
QUOTE(Woot_Aranya @ Mar 8 2006, 08:23 PM) 267593
Celest, well the Celestines, like to hand out city-enemies pretty much whenever someone kills them. I come across Malicia on Earth Plane by chance after hearing her and Thoros attack my guildmaster. So I attack her but she gets away. I come across Thoros on Astral and attack him but he gets away.
Shortly after, Amaru enemies me to the city
Smell fishy to anyone?
Well to make you feel better, I had asked for you NOT to be enemied. You jumped me on astral. I found that neat. Not everyday that someone just jumps me.

Before you reply to me, read what I said. I clearly stated I would never want her job. And it was my belief that she did not handle it as best as possible.
I am not saying we should warrant a refendum for each enemying, but ones that feel so strongly about it as Ixion. Clearly he felt that he hadn't violated the agreement, and it meant a lot to him. If he was considering joining Celest, and people new about it.. that wouldn't really qualify him as the scourge of the earth, that would qualify him rather as someone defecting to the Light. Shouldn't someone like that warrant at the LEAST a referendum? I think so. Or perhaps I'm not brutish enough for you. Sorry, I tend to be compassionate. It's a side effect of being "good".

No, in all seriousness, Lusternia is too combat based to support a community of passifists. You can be peaceful, but if you like your city, dont try to mess with other people.
