When I was young, we didn't understand jokes! oldie.gif
Actually, we don't now, either, but....ummm.... quickexit.gif
ferlas2006-03-10 20:04:23
Ack I really wanna get a soap artifact now...
Xenthos2006-03-10 20:05:32
They did say that some artifacts from the auction might make a return in later auctions, or even appearing in the shops. Of course, they also said that a few would never be seen again.
Ashteru2006-03-10 20:07:28
Soap mustn't ever see the light of the day again!
Xavius2006-03-10 20:12:17
Soap can come back when it has all the restrictions of elementalism's cleanse.
Terenas2006-03-10 20:14:03
And Sap should be an 8 power ability again, I really don't understand why they lowered its power cost so anyone could sap twice in a row. As if the Druid's demesne wasn't annoying enough to deal with.

I'd actually like sap at 6, myself.
Ceren2006-03-11 00:56:15
Admittedly, I hardly ever fight druids, but I don't get why double sap is such a big deal. If you can cure the first sap (which should be the one timed with paralysis), then the second one should be no problem.
Shamarah2006-03-11 01:13:15
There wouldn't really be a point to soap if it had the same restrictions as cleanse...
Unknown2006-03-11 02:10:40
Wait, soap invalidates sap locking? That's stupid. wacko.gif

As for cudgel, I don't know, I don't think we're meant to kill with damage. We're meant to use our hindering and instakill, or something (yes, its damage-based... but meh).

** Summary for Auction #15 *********************************************
Title: (Days until closing: 198)
Magical Soap
Prize:
A bar of golden soap
Current bid:
10 credits.
Description:
This magical soap will scrub you clean always in one wash,
without the need for being around water.
************************************************************************

The point is that it always takes one scrub, and doesn't require being around water. Its the same as the unending vials, but for enchantments.

It was *originally sold* without *any* mention of being better than a cleanse enchantment in *any* way. In fact, I was bidding on it for that reason alone.
Unknown2006-03-11 02:51:50
From what I understood about that soap was that -anything- scrub would work on, the soap would work on, but in only 1 scrub.

Isn't that what it does? unsure.gif

Why would you be able to actually do a full bath in water when vined and paralyzed, but you can't rub a ring or bracelet?
Xavius2006-03-11 03:02:53
How is a druid's demesne more annoying than either of the mage demesnes? Paralysis instead of stun? No needle rain, no hunger attacks, briars instead of stonewalls. The afflictions are silly. Asthma? Psh. No pipe cures. Confusion. There's a good one. Shame it doesn't affect you warriors any. Spiders are nice, pathtwist is annoying, but our demesne has to have something.

Then compare our methods of killing. Mages and druids kill through damage. I would love to get a data set big enough to do a serious comparison of staff versus cudgel damage per second. We don't get two-hit kills like the mages. Staffs aren't nullified by plate armor. The disparity is just silly. "Oh," you say, "Staffs don't cause bleeding!" Yeah, well, bleeding gives my opponents another tactical option. To survive against a Blacktalon, you need to keep your mana above 25% (or stay on the same elevation as the druid when you slip below) and your health above zero. The nice thing about bleeding is that you get to choose how much damage goes towards your health, and how much towards your mana. In addition, sparkleberry is essentially of double value: you heal both health and mana, when I need to actively whiddle both down.

Yes, sap is powerful. It better be. If it's not, just how do we kill someone of a decent level with any modicum of skill? Let's just take Laysus' suggestion. We'll run them out of willpower.
Unknown2006-03-11 03:03:08
Because its MAGIC soap!

No, just kidding and I have no idea what I'm talking about so i'll just go sit in the corner.

Out of curiousity, have you ever had pathtwist used effectively against you?

Yes, actually. Not yours. I don't have a panic-run reflex with you. Works much better when all you want is to get out.

Soap is an artifact that costs most people from 150-250 credits. That is far more than what a cleanse enchantment costs. What soap does is allow the person to scrub anywhere. It was never billed as an unlimited cleanse enchantment. If they had wanted it to be that they would have just made an artifact that casts cleanse.
