Happy Easter (for another 8 hours! ). Aunt tried to get me to eat all my eggs the morning I got but I'll probably end up saving them for a few months until I notice I still have them...
Manjanaia2006-04-16 15:52:38
We've had Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on doors all day, telling people Jesus isn't the way and that the world is going to end. Happy fscking Easter

...wait, what? I know I'm totally ignorant about most religions, but I thought Jehovah's Witnesses were a bizarre Christian sect. Are they a Jewish sect after all or something? (I thought Jehovah might have had something to do with it, but...)

They're like door-to-door salesmen... only with Christianity. And that's about all I know about them.
Shiri2006-04-17 00:55:25
So if they are Christian, wtf is with the "Jesus is not the answer" stuff?

Meaningless? *raised eyebrow*.
Manjanaia2006-04-17 15:31:44
I have no idea what I meant to be honest, something along those lines. I don't know anything about them other than that they're hella annoying.

I hope people noticed I was giving away eggs Yesterday in-game. Made up some excuse about a chicken farm I inhereted. ;-)
Shiri, Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian Denomination, but they many philosophies that don't mesh with other Christian Denominations. They don't follow the two major Christian Creeds that most other denominations follow.
They believe Jesus was the son of God but not part of a Trinity (they say he was known as the "Word", then as the Archangel Michael before born on Earth). They also have other beliefs, such as Hell not existing (a lie by Satan to turn people against god) and unbelievers simply ceasing to exist after death, and that the world is in such bad shape because Jesus defeated Satan and Satan took residence on Earth (when World War I broke out). Jesus died on a stake, not a cross.
Assuming they were JW's, I suspect they were either discussing the
"pagan" nature of the holiday, or the fact that Jehovah, not Jesus, should be worshiped directly. They do not celebrate most holidays including ones such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and even Birthdays.
