Don't the histories pretty clearly state that the kelpies are fae? And Lanikai is Butter's godmother.

“Aye, well, there be a story for your next broadcast, master furrikin,” he said with wink, and took a sip from a little flask (he did like to drink). “Thems that think the Great Spirits you folks take stock in only lives in the forests, but, aye, there’s some spirits that live in the sea too, protecting her waters. May not be as grand as them forest spirits, maybe they be just wee little spirits compared to your big ’uns, but us that live in the sea knows she’s there, yes we do!”

“Go to the ethereal realm and find Queen Maeve in Faethorn Court,” instructed the High Priestess of the Moon. “Tell her what Lolly has said about the Horn of Urlach, and ask her to send the kelpies to the Inner Sea and intercept the imperial ships.”

“It shall be as you say, milady,” said the pixie.

“One more thing,” she added. “Tell Queen Maeve that I suggest the kelpies sink the imperial ships. Tell her it may be best if there are no survivors.”

Maeve said that kelpies were Fae once when someone asked. I remember.

I am pretty sure that Maeve referred to them as fae during Butter's wedding, too... but my log of it only contained the actual wedding itself, not the discussions involved.

Veradin, Narsrim D'cente`, Moonlit Avenger says to Queen Maeve of the Fae,
"Queen Maeve, if you have a moment, I have a question."
Laeroc, the Queen's Consort whispers into Narsrim's ear.

Queen Maeve of the Fae says, "What is it? Quickly, I must figure a way to deal
with the problem at hand."

You say, "Simply that. Perhaps we could help if we understood more of the
situation."

You look about yourself, concern evident in your eyes.

Veradin, Narsrim D'cente`, Moonlit Avenger says to Queen Maeve of the Fae,
"Already I sense these kelpie mutants, which have invaded the Inner Sea. I was
wondering if you could offer any information surrounding them. Are they pure
Fae?"

Jasper nods his head at you, showing his acceptance.

Veradin, Narsrim D'cente`, Moonlit Avenger says, "Lanikai will likely call for
assistance and I do want to help her, yet if they are in fact under your
blessing, this becomes more complicated."

Narsrim gives a pained sigh.

Queen Maeve of the Fae says, "I do not know much about these kelpies yet. Leave
me, I need to think."

Butter Sweetpease exclaims, "I know! I wish for my godmother JeiJei to come see
me and give us her blessing!"

Queen Maeve of the Fae gives a horrified gasp.

Shayle taps her fingers together and murmurs, "Excellent..."

(Moondancers): Vix says, "Hm. JeiJei?"

Dark green strands of kelp suddenly materialize and form the shape of an
alluring woman.

Queen of the Night, Shayle d'Iasani Treeripper smiles and says, "That's a lovely
wish, Butter."

Entranced by Jeitara, the Seductress, Xavius emits a long "Ooooh."

Jeitara, the Seductress smirks slightly as she turns towards Butter and hands
her something.

Deep green strands of kelp, the likes of which have not seen the sunlight in
many years, wrap together to form the shape of an alluring woman. Small tatters
of clothes stick to her form, their edges frayed, ripped and molding. Crystal
green eyes, the colour of a bright emerald, stare, unblinking, out from amidst
the fronds. The eyes are cold and unfeeling, and the look around their settings
without passion or emotion.
Jeitara, the Seductress appears to be extraordinarily strong.

(Moondancers): Vix says, "How could Butter have a grandmother like that? Eesh."

Butter Sweetpease blinks.

Peeka tilts her head curiously.

Jeitara, the Seductress says, "Congratulations, Butter. You couldn't possibly
understand all that you have done, and for that... May your life, and marriage,
continue to be immortal."

Nievea's mouth turns up as her face breaks into a smile.

Butter Sweetpease exclaims, "Godmother JeiJei?! Godmother! I thought you were
gone!"

(Moondancers): Vix says, "Oh. Godmother."

Perriwinkle, a tall, dark-haired fae narrows his eyes at Jeitara, the Seductress
in an unnerving manner.

(Moondancers): Selene, the First of the Mothers says, "Godmother, young one."

Jeitara, the Seductress's eyes sparkle with amusement.

(Moondancers): You say, "Her other godmother warned that she shouldn't come,
earlier."

Jeitara, the Seductress says, "I was, but thanks to you, I'm back."

(Moondancers): Vix says, "I've missed quite a bit."

Jeitara, the Seductress stares at Lanikai, pointedly.

Shayle's mouth turns up as her face breaks into a smile.

(Moondancers): Narsrim says, "Her godmothers are Lanikai and Jeitara, right?"

(Moondancers): You say, "Correct."

(Moondancers): Tatine says, "This is sounding a bit ominous..."

Jeitara, the Seductress exclaims, "That's right, Lanikai. I am BACK!"

(Moondancers): Narsrim says, "Kelpies!"

Queen of the Night, Shayle d'Iasani Treeripper smiles and says, "Welcome back
Lady Jeitara."

(Moondancers): Narsrim says, "I love kelpies."

Lanikai the Sea Hag exclaims, "No! It's not possible! Queen Maeve, how could you
do this?!"

(Moondancers): Vix says, "I don't particularly like this kelpie though."

Dakine arrives from the down.

Xavius whispers soothing words.

Anisu looks about herself suspiciously.

Dakine licks Malicia.

Nievea ponders the situation.

(Moondancers): You say, "Jeitara certainly seems ... a bit disturbing."

High Druidess Peeka, The Inventive says, "Oh dear."

Dakine licks Yukari.

Spirit Warden Xenthos An'Ryshe, the Ebon Strategist says to Jeitara, the
Seductress, "And greetings. We welcome your return."

Yukari shoves Dakine rudely.

Veradin, Narsrim D'cente`, Moonlit Avenger says, "Please Ms. Lanikai, do not be
alarmed on this joyous occassion."
Jeitara, the Seductress growls, "Even she could not contain me! Once I finish
this spell she will sing no more!"

Queen Maeve of the Fae says, "Dear Gods..."

A fae knight looks up curiously.

(Moondancers): You say, "And Queen Maeve's reaction disturbs me."

"Eep!", Vix screams in fright.

Queen Maeve of the Fae exclaims, "You have been in charge of this problem for
how many millenia, Lanikai? I merely granted a simple wish. It is up to you to
fix it now!"
