Wisp and Summon

Woooh, I had in my noviehood boredom some ideas.

First summon:
Shouldn't be removed, rather set up to like 8, 9 or 10 power. So that the mage can kill the occasional enemy mage trying to break the demesne, but isn't able to stop a full out assault.

And wisp:
Should lead to a random room anywhere on any plane, except not into enemy territory. Has a chance of 50% to succeed, if it doesn't succeed, the wisp starts attacking the target with a tiny dagger or something.

Nah, get rid of them.

Actually, what if wisp worked like a constant distraction... ORDER WISP FOLLOW (target), then occasionally it will move them in a random direction as long as it is following.

I approve of that.

I would actually say that's a pretty good idea (I assume you mean like a dizziness effect) except that the mechanics of ents following are extremely annoying for ent-users in that it's incredibly easy to just LOSE WILLOWISP (which I'm pretty sure is invisible to everyone else, wiccan included) and then have it sitting there uselessly. It'd be like pigwidgeon, but worse.

Whee! biggrin.gif

It would still be better than nothing. And not absurd like transfixing.

True.

Not by much. Dizziness itself doesn't see much use, and there's a reason people want pigwidgeon changed so it doesn't have to be following.

Actually, my newest idea for wisp is making it a line-of-sight summon instead of a local area summon. I think it is would be much more reasonable.
Unknown2006-04-04 16:45:21
Down with summon!

And... what would be an upgrade in exchange, eh? tongue.gif

Why would you need one, summons like wisp and demencse need to go basically.
Sylphas2006-04-05 04:43:29
Why don't we just put in mass salve, and get rid of that aspect of combat entirely. We already have been hitting the teleporting skills pretty hard (namely, Teleport).

Actually, I'm struggling to remember the time I was actually excited to learn planar. I'm almost tempted to just forget down to Rift, since I don't have Conglutinate and won't for a while.

Wisp is a great ability that doesn't just help druids, it helps wiccans in solo combat as well. I've seen wisps used against aeoned fleeing opponents in 1v1 combat in forests before. If Wisp needs nerfing because of its demesne use, fine. But Wiccans would need a counterbalance to compensate for the loss of a great skill that had many uses besides just summoning within demesnes.

Me? I don't need wisp at all. Was asking Narsrim what kind of upgrade he proposed in exchange in his suggestion, if it wasn't clear.
ferlas2006-04-06 11:59:58
I ment why would we wiccans or mages need an upgrade because willowisp and demence summon should go, sorry if I wasnt clear.

Because we are losing a useful ability on the basis of a demesne, which we don't possess?
ferlas2006-04-07 09:37:11
Its not really a needed skill, fair enough im all for new interesting skills but we shouldnt get an upgrade just because willowisp needs a nerf.
Shiri2006-04-07 12:32:25
I think the point is that we should get an upgrade if wisp was REMOVED as opposed to just downgraded.
ferlas2006-04-07 13:15:57
Nerfing a skill which makes combat unfun and unbalanced dosn't warrent an upgrade unless its taking away a vital part of our one on one combat abilites, removing wisp removes nothing vital. New skills for everyone yes anything thats interesting yes, an upgrade no.
