The line between game mechanics and RP

So... where do you draw the line between game mechanics and RP... Are Commune Guardians Fae or Not? Recent events seem to imply that they might not be, and mehanics enforce this, however some people ingame claim taht they were told tha they are.
Shiri2006-04-06 03:20:13
What did any of that mean?
Narsrim2006-04-06 03:21:54
Daganev. Lloyd Brown in Stewartsville does not respond to "influence man".... does that mean he is not a man?
Daganev2006-04-06 03:26:23
hmm, I'll edit the first post since pattern recognition is not everyone's strong suite.

Narsrim, not all males in the basin respond to being called a man, but all other fae, do.
Unknown2006-04-06 03:26:24
Crafted from some unknown substance the robes worn by this Silver Lady gleam
with an ethereal glow. A shimmering veil keeps her visage hidden while twin
rapiers are strapped to her back, ready for the slightest need. A billowing cape
completes the champion's attire, brushing and flapping in an unfelt breeze.
A Lady of the Silver Light is quite powerful.
She weighs about 203 pounds.
She is loyal to Moon Spirit.
You see nothing in it.

She's loyal to Moon, for a start. Second, the description hardly makes me think - ah yes, it must be a hired dracnari mercenary behind that veil.

You can't use commands to prove an IC point. Otherwise, since FORESTCAST FOREST destroys wyrden wood... you have to admit it's NOT forest! tongue.gif

Edit: Oops, think I mixed up my command.
Daganev2006-04-06 03:28:19
Her description implies to me that the guardian is made out of pure moonlight, or some such thing... Clearly a product of Mother Moon, but also a product of the Communes which the Etheral and Faethorn don't exactly treat in the same way that they use to.

QUOTE

Below the mushroom.
Superimposed over this location, an ethereal forest reaches up to the sky. An
ornate wooden staircase leads down into this subterranean area. This chamber has
been carved out of the soil itself, the roof and walls still bearing many small
roots that have penetrated the soil. A large woven rug rests on the floor, a
thick, soft weave that is a pleasure to stand on. Many wooden chairs rest around
the room, inviting anyone who cares to sit down. Giant golden pots rest in glass
display cases at every corner of the room, apparently filled to the brim with
tiny gold pieces. A patch of reishi mushroom thrives here. An opulent roulette
wheel lies here horizontally, tempting those with a taste for risk. With arms
crossed over his pot belly, Goldie the Leprechaun stands brashly here.
A wiccan
broom floats here, vibrating with energy.
You see exits leading north, southwest, and up.

look fae
Come again?

Mechically, you are trying to tell us Goldie isn't a Fae? Well I'm sorry, but that's silly. Leprechauns are Fae. Goldie is a leprechaun. Goldie is thus a Fae.
Daganev2006-04-06 03:37:50
can't say I've ever been in serenwilde to find out or know anything about that.. thus the question.

Elryn your example was a bad one, because Wyrden Wood is very clearly not Etheral forest, which is very clearly NOT Sylvan forest/wood, but they are all still forest. Just like you can interact with butter using fae or butter, etc.

Are you able to interact with Goldie by calling her a leprechaun?

Because for Ladies, the only command that works with them is ladies I think.

Test out Luckie in Glomdoring?

Test out to see if she respond to whatever tangent Daganev is on. Pay attention.

We have no Luckie.

We have a harpy! I've never heard of a harpy being a fae, though.

Do you have some super-secret knowledge the rest of us lack?
Daganev2006-04-06 03:42:08
who or what is luckie?

And what tangent?
Shiri2006-04-06 03:45:37
Lucky is just the other dude we have than goldie in Goldie's mushroom. She does the blackjack. I really don't know what is being discussed anymore. unsure.gif
Daganev2006-04-06 03:46:28
I don't see whats so crazy about noticing a pattern that is suddenly borken for only one type of creature, which is based on the communes and not the area of question. Its not like there are only two creatures and they both have fae in the name or description, its all the fae creatures, even the ones that don't have fae in the description... save the supposed fae silver ladies.
Narsrim2006-04-06 03:51:57
My bad. Oh well, lets see... try a kelpie!

Here's another:
QUOTE

Frosted forest in the Moonhart's silver mist.
Snowflakes float down around you, colouring the world white. Cascades of
silvered mist sweep off the enormous boughs of the Moonhart and fall in
shimmering waterfalls to crown the leaf-barren, almost translucent trees bowed
before her. Ambient light, emanating from the awe-inspiring power of the tree,
creates gentle halos about everything in sight. A light frost edges the crisp,
varied grasses in crystal, and a chill winter's breeze shifts past to stir the
silver mist. Breaking through the dimensions, a planar rift slashes through the
air here. A hornbeam sapling clings tenaciously to the ground here. Reaching up
as high as the eye can see looms the awesome presence of a living totem.
Hovering eerily here is a frost hag, emanating a pale silver glow.
You see exits leading northeast, east, southeast, and west.
look fae

I don't quite catch your drift.

You say, "To fae Hi."

A pale silver glow radiates out from this fae, accompanied by a sense of cold
and an odd mist that surrounds it. Floating inexplicably in the air, the frost
hag observes the area slowly with strange, ghost-like movements. Looking similar
to a banshee, this fae is ephemeral and bodiless in substance, appearing as a
shade almost out of phase with this realm. Pure black hair waves lazily in the
air as if underwater, hiding the face of the hag as it seems to flow through the
air, ever vigilant.
A frost hag appears to be extraordinarily strong.
She is strangely weightless.
She is loyal to the Alliance of Serenwilde.
You see nothing in it.

Daganev2006-04-06 04:05:24
Try looking at somehting NOT from serenwilde.. like the kelpies.. that was a good idea, if I knew how to find them I'd check.

Unknown2006-04-06 04:13:42
The Silver Ladies are from Serenwilde. Why wouldn't they be the same as other Serenwilde fae?
