Well arnt tarrot cards assigned a number anyway before they are put in or out of a rift when they are made?
So like I thought you could follow the numbers suuch as not just outd soulless, but outd soulless342342 if you know what i mean?

Deck, not rift.
I don't think you can do that, can't check it out now to make sure.

No, I'm pretty sure the decks work like rifts. I know if you IND a hermit, you need to reactivate it.
ferlas2006-04-07 21:51:52
ah yes but can you ind card324, if so then you can keep the soulless your rubbing out for ever except the pack method seems easier.
Daganev2006-04-07 22:20:38
I can't remember which game it was, but I had this skill that would tie someone's pack shut, and a skill to steal from people, so they would end up putting all thier vials and cures in thier pack, or otherwise I would steal them, and then when they did I tied the pack shut, and they couldn't heal when I attacked them... ahh taht was a good game.
It had similar combat to IRE but not as intense.

That's what I was talking about - no, you can't.

Or just put the deck in your backpack... (not actually knowing how the cards work, this may not actually do anything. Seems like it should do the trick, however).
Couldn't I then just order you to DROP SOULLESS instead?
As for the numbers, if tarot here is anything like Achaea you can't ind or outd cards by number, only by type, so the number thing doesn't work.
Shryke2006-04-09 22:21:32
selfishness will prevent that, and of course they could always pick it back up, and keep going (the ind soulless makes it so they would have to search through their deck to find the right one again)
Unknown2006-04-10 13:59:40
I'm not sure about dropping, but I know that ind makes it lose all of its previous rubs. I assume that dropping a card would do the same thing, so they have to start over again.

Haven't tested recently, but I don't think that's true

Laysus said he used it on Thoros yesterday...might ask one of them if it worked.
EDIT: Also, all of this is assuming that tarot here works the same way as Achaea. I was an occultist over there, and ind always made death tarot lose it's rubs (it also made hermit lose activation, etc.)
Shiri2006-04-11 14:38:37
Oh, the IND thing works, just dropping doesn't (to my knowledge).
Question, though, does IND CARD require that you be on-balance? Because it's mostly academic if not because dropping cards will be considerably harder to actually force someone to do anyway.

Laysus said he forced Thoros to drop the card, but I'm not 100% sure if that means he has to start over. Might be worth testing.
Anyway, I don't see much point in opening another thread, but I changed a few things and tried sparring Thoros again. This time I went down to Soulless even when I saw it coming. Any suggestions for this one?

Use something besides allheale to cure, especially if you have time to diagnose. I assumed you had those messages gagged until I went back and took a closer look. You just...didn't cure! Not a thing that wasn't handled by allheale, which you were eager to spam-sip.
You'll also want to add a reflex that stands every time you see a message saying that you need to. No need for it to be complicated. Just stand.

This is a recently purchased system, so I can only guess, but I assume that allheale is used primarily because it's a much faster cure than, for example, focusing body. I tend to use allheale to cure things like paralysis, blackout, etc. simply for the speed of curing. I thought it was a good thing, especially in the arena...

Part of the problem with this I discovered was with stupidity. The system assumes that I have the ability to focus mind, which I don't, so I had to disable the focus mind cure. Apparently I didn't disable the other checks correctly though, so the end result is that stupidity was never cured until eventually the failsafe defaulted to using allheale. Stupidity also stood in the way of some of my other cures (you can see the echoed commands where I tried on some of them). Hopefully that will be better now.
Thanks for the ideas, and I'm interested to hear a lot more about when it's best to use allheale. I can also moondance full, and hopefully I'll be learning green soon. Any suggestions when they might be useful, or if it's worth hard-coding them into my system somewhere?
EDIT: I forgot about the stand thing. I do stand automatically once I see that I'm prone, but first the system checks for any afflictions that would prevent standing (i.e. webbed, paralysed, etc) and doesn't bother issuing the command if I have any of those afflictions.

The only problem with using allheale to cure petty things like paralysis is that allheale is on a 20 second balance, people can paralysis you much faster than that and its better saving allheale for curing hidden afflictions and things that have no cure like blackout.
