Ah, see that's a bit different from how this post started out.
I can agree with you there, nothing that was done had any outcome, I feel locked in, everything we've build our RP on in the past just gets ripped apart, and we have to all play our little bit parts in the grand EVENT.
I get this "why did I bother?" feeling
Yeah, if I was still actively playing Lusternia, Shorlen would have had to at LEAST forgotten wicca over it, and wicca was such a fun skillset to play with

w00t!
Believe me, Gorgulu isn't going to be wanting for Fae any longer.
Also: Can only Glomdoring and Serenwilde have honeycakes made now? I can't seem to get it to work, and I don't think dead fae can be imped.

The Fae just don't want your protection, they haven't actually begun slathering themselves with ketchup and throwing themselves into Gorgulu's mouth. Yet.

They said specifically they do not wish to be taken by Serenwilde or Glomdoring, and that they do not ever want violence to touch their realm. In other words, you're free to take them, there's nothing we can do about it. Well, I guess we can go make protest signs and some garlands and weed pipes and protest the oppression of our fae friends like the hippies we're to become...

But they said they don't want us to stop you from taking them.

I still am all confused about this thing with Celest...now we are being told not to do Raziela's bidding, for fear it would upset "the already fragile ground with Serenwilde". I thought this event was the admins' way giving Celest an out, a chance to pursue a direction other than "Celenwilde'...maybe I am wrong.... but being Simimi and going against the wishes of Her Loving Radiance....damn that is really hard to do, from a roleplay AND from an ooc standpoint...
love-mimi
Point question. Are you or many people in celest roleplaying that they want to empower and do the supernals bidding at all costs, or are many people in celest roleplaying ignoring a supernals wishes to save a political alliance?
The fae pretty much said though that faethorn is their home and taking them away from faethorn is kidnap.

Just expressing my general distaste with the relationship of Celest and Serenwilde.
Laysus2006-04-09 22:32:31
I don't have a clue what to do now, I'm (un)happy to say.
Fae don't want to be taken, we can ignore that to keep doing what the guild does. On the other hand, doing that ignores the fact that the fae don't want to be taken, which goes against what our guild should be doing. So we can pay attention to that, and ignore the whole protecting the fae by bringing them to Mother Moon part, but then we're ignoring a sizable part of MD purpose.
Anyone here good with dilemmas?

...I suck at Ascii.

From my understanding....I was told to instruct my disciples and the younger of the guild NOT to get Fae...and it does seem more about the alliance.
The argument I have heard is "there are 4 other Supernals...why boy down to the wishes of just one?" GEE ISN'T THAT CONVENIENT!?!?
Personally I am schocked at how fast Faith has flown out the door! I do not know how to get fae or I would probably die trying, as I have already got a few threats slung my way.

Edit: Sorry, from my understanding...most people want to RP the keeping of the alliance, and those who wish to get fae, in my guild, I was told to instruct them not to.

Sorry I missed out on this one--gonna be too busy for the next few weeks. Too bad I'm just busy with taxes and a few other things I gotta get done.
OOC, if I understand what went down--I kinda understand why they went in this direction. I forget if I ever said anything in character, but one of the problems I saw was a loss of moral ambiguity for Serenwilde. I've always assumed all entities being summoned is not enacted by free will. In the Guardian roles, I believe the Lords of Nil and Celestia require the angels/demons to be bound. However, because they are summoned, I never saw the Fae being willing participants either. All this time, I considered both IC and OOC that the fae just wanted to be fae, but either practioner who used Wicca forced them to work, sort of like summoning elementals. It was just the fact that Glomdoring had the "bound in shadows" message that it was thought they were the "bad guys".
There was a lot of talk about having the relationship between Serenwilde and Glomdoring be a little more blurred, but I feel since many people RP Serenwilde as "Good" and Glomdoring as "Evil", there was little that could be done. I expected them to do something like the "everything you know is a lie" plot--maybe Kiakoda wasn't really all that nice, for instance.
While I understand some of the players attitude about admins "breaking the RP", and can understand frustration behind feeling you have no impact on the world--in this case, they were trying to make sure that Serenwilde got a dose of "shades of grey" that some of the initial guildmasters setup and refused to alter.
Sometimes orgs can cause problems if they are not willing to be flexible. Nobody knew there would be a Glomdoring initially, and I have a feeling the outlook would've changed if they existed since day 1.
Also, if the admin have a position for how orgs should behave "in general", it's up to them to guide the hands of players from time to time, simply because all the orgs need to exist and be equal, and you can't have the situation that brewed last summer where they were forced to change the fae quests 'cause people got a little too zealous. People have to remembert this is a MUD with dozens of players and each organization has a right to exist and to have fun. It might force some heavy-handedness at times, but it's to make sure as many people have fun as they can.

On a more serious note, I do pity the situation the Wiccans are in right now. If I were one of you I would be raising a hell of a ruckus right now. As soon as my joy over having a new bashing area fades I'll send Estarra a few angry letters.

Eh, I just started reading books again instead. At least there I know I have no control over the plot.

I always take the wrong path and end up dead... just to find out that any of the other choices also make me dead, so I have to go back further until I find something where I don't die.
Apparently I don't make good decisions in those books.
Unknown2006-04-09 22:55:30
I'm surprised you're so bitter Shorlen, because didn't you say you disliked Glomdoring because they unbalanced the game forcing it into good vs. evil instead of good vs. neutral vs. evil (or IIRC every community was "arrogant"). This brings back the more "neutral stance" that the communes used to have. It removes the summoning of fae from being considered either a good or evil act.
Laysus, try to have fun with the moral ambiguity. If a fae dies while defending you, add a funeral for it! Make it a more solem ritual. Or adopt a bit of arrogance, or emphasis the Moon spirits over the Night ones. Or try to start working with the once-members of the Summer Court to work together for nature in some way. You're philosophy has been proven wrong--now deal with the issues it has left.
