For most race/class combos, yes. They don't hit all that hard. But I am Selverad. I am tank, ja. Hasta la vista, talk to da hand, and make my day.

You know, right as I typed that I briefly pondered playing Selverad with an Austrian accent.

But anyways, back to topic....
I think if I had been anything -but- a walking hit point reservoir, with ridiculous sip bonuses, I'd have avoided the Flats for a long time. I tend to be very spooky about my bashing... I don't like things that pose a risk of killing me.

Nothing wrong with Austrian accent. *eye* Nothing beats Austrian english. I sound sekhsy..

I dislike the Tidal Flats. The experience isn't that good, nor is the gold, and the crabs are ungodly annoying at low levels. Just buy a few health vials, learn pentagram/circle, and bash orcs.
Shamarah2006-05-21 22:33:13
One of you (Ashteru and Selverad) needs to change your avatar, that's really confusing.
Selverad2006-05-22 03:00:30
I had noticed, but I thought his signature would provide enough distinction. I'll change if he wants... He's been around a lot longer than I have.

I'm a level 24 geomancer with the same tools generally available - By killing mostly boxturtles, starfish, and mongrels (I haven't tried crabs, seagulls, or pelicans) i've been able to reliably defeat them with only the aid of blast and health potions - just blast, and every hit or two you take, sip health.

A veeeeery easy quest to do there is to 'Say to myrtle I'll help you find your grandmother' then walk to the southern shore. I gained practically 80% experience. Also, collecting 12 clams and giving them to the clam collector gives a heck of a lot of money. I've yet to figure out the quest from the bum or the little girl. Can't figure out how to dry the starfish sad.gif

Seagulls are easy. They just make you deaf. You SHOULD be able to handle seagulls easily. Pelicans are another story, they are stronger, and very much like seagulls. I think they can make you deaf. But I'm not sure exactly.

Don't even try to handle crabs with a mending vial. They break bones, and you can't do a pentagram with broken bones.

Pelicans can make you deaf too.

You shouldn't generally be giving out quest information on the forums, although tips and hints of some of the easier ones, like pilgrims, scholars, power and commodity quests are handed out when people get stuck. Here it's not so bad, becase it looks like you lucked out and someone did most of the rest of the Myrtle quest for you. There's a lot more to it than that.

make a clotting alias that lets you clot like 5 times

Beat up on seagulls! They're ridiculously easy. Well, compared to crabs, anyway. Admittedly you won't make much, if any, money out of it, but hey. While I was a novice (not that long ago, really), I would beat up on seagulls, then go and help out some poor lost pilgrims (as all Viscanti regularly do biggrin.gif ), then go and beat up on more seagulls... and so on and so forth. That got me to about level 30 quite quickly, by which point, I was ready for Mag's power quest. It all fits together somehow!

....well, sometimes.

Gees, I wish that I could figure out zMUD scripting! I study scripts on the foriums and get so lost my head swims. I tried to study the help files but they are so disorganized that they only confuse me more. If I ever learn to do just simple scripts I will be elated.

Go to the Zuggsoft website.
Zmud support.

http://www.zuggsoft.com/page.php?file=library/index.htm

Near the bottom of the list are several articles titled, "zMud Book Chapter - blahblah".

Read through those - at least the simple ones on features, triggers etc. They are for an older version of zmud, but nothing much has changed at the beginner, or even intermediate levels. The screenshots of the GUI will not match - but work through the articles, they will help you create simple triggers and aliases for just this sort of thing.

Heh...a three year old necro. I think that's the winner so far.

Talk to the bum. and talk to the little girl. If you still get stuck you should ask members of your city for hints. As to the topic on bashing in the Tidal flats, I stayed away from crabs until I was lvl 30. Instead I bashed easier stuff like seagulls etc. (as mentioned above). I influencing has also been my major method of gaining experience (Not sure if you can do it as yet, but Tosha monks are great)
Akraasiel2010-06-03 06:59:55
For some reason I think that Necro-ing this thread has just become the new in-thing... expect to see the Tidal Flats coming to the top of a forum near you... in 2014...
