I use MudMagic from http://www.mudmagic.com/mud-client/
I tried some others but this one just feels better - it's simple, cute and very user-friendly, and has all the functions I need minus the confusion.
I also use Mud Master 2000 sometimes. (I love freeware)

Join to true religion and use zMud.

MMUCL for *nix based systems, easier for me to understand than Tiny Fugue, and it does everything I need it to (blatant lie, it doesn't have timers built in :'( )
but I have been using Zmud for about 2 days and it has alot of neat features...

I find that zmud is the only client that has the programming abilities to handle IRE games properly, and is the most userfriendly.
Many of the other mud clients I think are wonderfull for the autocombat muds, but when things are best handled by ques and string lists, and conditional triggers, nothing beats zmud.
I think the only reason the other alternatives seem better, is the price.

MUSHclient can deal with things you mentioned (except conditional triggers, which are really neat. It has multiline triggers though, not sure how good they are).
Zmud is most powerful in most of areas though (but it doesn't have HTML logging like MUSHclient ).
Peony, does Mud Magic's automapper work nicely for Lusternia?

I feel a sad now, cuz I use nexus
Acrune2006-04-12 22:31:05
Zmud, its a pretty good program and I find it to be pretty easy to program.
Hazar2006-04-12 22:50:02
zMud is best for two reasons:
1) Customizable! Don't like the interface? Make a new one!
2) It's a lot easier to buy systems when you have zMud.

I use nexus 90% of the time, but I still like zmud better.

I haven't tried it out yet (haven't figured out how automapping works), but when I do I'll let you know.
P.S.: Where do you guys get Nexus from?
Viravain2006-04-13 01:47:03
Nexus is the free client, but it's attached for each game (you cannot access a different one on it than the game it goes with). If you go to www.lusternia.com, and click PLAY LUSTERNIA, the screen that loads is Nexus (basically, the better, prettier version that took over for Java).

It's freaking gorgeous.
Anisu2006-04-13 02:03:41
Hrm, zmud by far, It's the only reason I still have windows on my computer. (yah I finally caved in and got Cedega so I can play EQ2 in linux)
*nix clients just don't cut it. Either they have no/crappy mapping. Or they don't support timers, or they don't support database use.
The only downside of zmud (and the one that will be for cmud) is that you can not run it in wine nor in cedega even now that Delphi is fully supported, because of that darn license software.

AL client sometimes, nexus others. Depends on what i'm doing. I can't stand the AL client font, but it's a bit easier to use(even though it's made for some other mud, but i don't play that mud on it, only lusternia and imperian.), so i ussually get annoyed by the font and just open up nexus.
Could someone please tell me which font nexus uses?

Newest Zmud no longer uses eLicense. Perhaps you should try it out once more now (I'm also curious if it works, but don't have any Linux currently).
Or maybe you could just crack it.

Log it with ansi colors and use Charbal's HTML Logger to convert those txt files with anis colors to HTML pages.
Its plugin to zMud but can bu run without it too.

It's not good enough. I want custom html colors in the log. Preferably without using some additional, crappy software.

Just in case anyone's interested, I found two more free MUD clients from the Free software directory (directory.fsf.org)
I will try them out in a few minutes...
KildClient
and
TinTin
Verithrax2006-04-14 19:53:57
zMUD doesn't run under the latest Wine for Ubuntu Breezy with default configurations.
Daganev2006-04-14 20:11:52
I use to use winTinTin... its really quite remarkable if you can handle it. (i.e. no user interface)
