I love the Faeling race, probably even more so when I get totem specialization.
But is it a good idea to run around as a heavily armored, faeling blademaster with dual rapiers?
I mean, the speed spells death...
Any feedback?

Well, as a faeling, you hit the 2 second cap with 275 speed weapons, so you wouldn't exactly need to fast rapiers either if you want to go fighting.
And from my experience, bashing as a faeling is pretty nice, and if you got the right skills and buff up your weapons, you can get some pretty nasty afflictions pretty fast. So I'd say go for it, heh.

What would be the right skills, though?
Ashteru2006-04-15 09:31:40
Well, since specialised faeling beats unspecalised by far, it'd be Ebonguard Night Faeling. Night for the nice weaponaura at trans.
Ixion2006-04-15 11:05:39
Shadowlord faeling (ebonguard only) with good rapiers and night has a lot of potential, though leveling up will be slow initially.
If you're concerned about combat it's a good choice 1v1, and when you get higher levels can be good group v group

I'd like to see a shadowlord running around with broadswords. Just for the mental picture, if nothing else.

Xen's had broadswords at some points, and so has Lyco. Only broads I've seen that would really be of much effectiveness at all in our hands was a pair at 200 speed 170 damage (which I'm not sure can be repeated any more). Damage would still be relatively low, but it'd be coming in at around 2.8 seconds.
Shryke2006-04-16 00:43:57
Melanchthon was exactly that. As a demigod faeling he did insane damage.
Ekard2006-04-16 08:17:43
I was thinking going faeling too.
Why?
Few resons.
1) I would have:
Strength : 7(+2+2+1)=12 Dexterity : 18(+2)=20 Constitution: 9(+2+1)=12
Intelligence: 15(+2)=17 Charisma : 16(+2+2+2)=22 Size : 1-25
Its not counting karma blessings, just my regular defenses and titanhood. And +1 to random stat from Fortuna.
I should still have nice health and mana: H:4557(+455 with life blessing) M:6042(+594 with knowledge blessing)
To help keep me alive i would still have:
o Heal faster from elixirs, level 2.
o Faster herb balance, level 1.
With surge i still would haev nice ammount of health: 7500+
2)
o Recover balance more quickly, level 3.
Faeling have fast balance. It would speed up me really nice. Not only in fight but also my forgings and i forge a lot. Forging hammer isnt enough for me heh.
3) Faelings can fly! I would need to trans raiding(250+cr), buy legendary horse(100k) and collar(250cr) would be nice too, so its too expensive option.
4)
o Shares Elfen racial language.
o Regenerate health and mana while in forest environments, Level 2.
Those are just small bonuses. But as druids are pretty active i could have this regen in quite a lot of places on prime. And understanding elfen language could be nice for espionage
5) No disadventages, except crappy stats and i would lose my exp bonus, but im already titan and i didnt bashed from few weeks now.
So your thoughts all? Should i give it a try and throw 100cr on dagger?? 200cr if faeling would suck.
But i will be pacifist for some longer so it wont hurt my fighting for now. Right now my main activity is forging.

No, stay human, they are far superior
Vix2006-04-17 22:04:22
At leats until Demigod. Then you won't need your silly xp bonus. (unless it works for essence...?)
EDIT: Oh, wait. You're aslaran.

What are your current stats as aslaran titan with defs?

In other words, to answer your question, yes, definately. Everyone considers Aslaran to be better than unspecialized Faelings, since the speed difference is worth the much better stats, but a Shadowlord faeling is really scary. Okay stats and insane speed is a deadly combo, since speed is all that matters in Lusternian combat.
EDIT: Okay, that's not true. Credits are all that matter. Then after credits, a curing system. Then after a curing system, speed. Then after speed, skill
Hazar2006-04-18 01:03:22
Speed isn't ALL that matters...some of the damage knights do pretty well. Just harder to master.
That's also a trend right now. Hasn't always been true. Time was tanks ruled the battlefield.

drop 1K credits on a cameo and never worry about race again.

Yeh i used to be one of those, but those days are long gone since they changed the wounding to run off precision and gave everyone uber buffs against physical damage

Fortuna went into charisma right here.
And sometimes i have knowledge blessing too, but not here.

that's nice con, and aslaran with highmagic paladin should be at 15 str all the time.
17 strt is very nice, i get it as a lich at night.
