no, I just liked how improved illusions used to be.
Lisaera2006-04-25 17:43:47
You know the improved illusion change was SUGGESTED in the envoy reports, it wasn't one of our ideas. We agreed to it because it sounded like mages didn't want to get hit with their own illusions.
Arix2006-04-25 17:44:51
I never got hit with them. Course, I didn't do reflexes. I just liked being able to tell if I did the illusion right.
Kharvik2006-04-25 17:47:26
If you weaved an improved large diagnose to mess your opponent up, you used to get hit by it yourself. The change to it was a needed one.

Umm, wow. No more willowisp. I can't say I'll miss the way it works, but I'm kinda upset at losing a skill altogether. C'est la vie! It certainly will make things more interesting and entertaining as that was really the only useful thing I could do during raids.
And hooray for the Divert change!!!
I really hope we get something in exchange. Fae in general aren't very powerful. Wiccans are also no longer "empowered in the forest" aside from that fact we can hide (which I don't count as "power") and web for free.
Daganev2006-04-25 17:53:15
darn that rp.
Lisaera2006-04-25 17:54:32
We intend to hold another Envoy Summit after all the changes from the last one and the envoy reports are finished, and one of the questions we put to them will be how we can make up for the loss of summon and willowisp for mages and wiccans respectively.

Both Wiccan envoys should talk about suggested changes for wisp or replacements for wisp that do not involve summoning. The one thing that always struck me that would be fun for willowisp would be transfixing. It's a beautiful ball of light so why not? Though, it would probably be a bit much with other fae capable of doing other things. There's a mana regen fae so why not a health or ego one as well? There are plenty of ideas that can be suggested and submitted to replace its loss.
I'm a firm believer of not crying over spilt milk, or in this case a lost skill. Instead I would much rather come up with new ideas to replace what was lost.

The Mother actually regenerates health . But, I do agree that Shayle and I need to meet and throw around some ideas. As for transfix though, I think that's pushing it. I personally would like something that was more utility based... maybe some ability to ask the spirits of the forest to hinder targets in it or something (like grove hinder), etc.

So back on topic...
Is there a way to make improved illusions such that if your in a room by yourself, (for example) you could see your improved illusions so you can test them and make sure they look like what you want them to look like?

Yes, it's called find a friend and use teamwork to get things working properly.

I agree with Daganev, it would make things better

@penelope: Think of the anit-social mage... think of the loners!
Aiakon2006-04-25 18:24:39
Improved Illusions have been made vastly better. Arix, do ssh. The smaller demesnes will make things interesting however... particularly the next astral nodes... in fact.
Daganev2006-04-25 18:27:00
Whats the size of an astral area?
Aiakon2006-04-25 18:32:12
15-20ish. ish.

- Demesnes are now limited to 25 rooms. This is a large change to the
way demesnes are going to be within the game, and we are going to
continue to monitor demesnes in general. We aren't removing current
demesnes over 25 rooms, as experience tells us they'll either die or be
chipped away pretty quickly anyway.
- Summon in both Aquamancy and Geomancy has been removed entirely, as
has the ability to summon Willowisps in Wicca.
- The way size affects writhing has been re-examined, and now has
similar caps (both minimum and maximum) on the effect it can have on the
speed of writhing as tumble does.
