Maybe this is a bad change for the massively god damn awesome change forging really deserves, yanno, like the calm before the storm, but the opposite way around.

Or a "you haven't figured out you should stop dumping credits into your knights yet? Lets kick you in the throat some more. Yay." change.
This change is undilluted crap. We should be able to proof the freaking full plate if this is kept. Seriously, because forging wasn't a flaming piece of garbage already. Way to go.
Shiri2008-07-14 06:59:38
I don't think this was a forging fix so much as a "knights are way too tanky compared to everyone else" fix.
Silvanus2008-07-14 07:00:17
This was a Knight on Knight combat fix.
Edit: So basically wounds. As somebody said before, 120/80 plates were possible, and 80/120, allowing there to be spec plates for which knight you'll be fighting. I think the argument was made that wounds scales much much more above 100.

Yeah, and monks can theoretically deal damage to knights now.
Celina2008-07-14 07:03:36
I think this affects knight vs knight combat since the only other archetype that does physical damage is monk. This change won't hurt how a knight tanks a mage, since their health is still obscene.
Most warriors I've talked to will say knight vs knight is long and annoying.

Spec plate had it coming, and I'm glad this change occured. People complain too much.
Being able to proof fullplate would be nice though. *envoys*
Anyone wanna tell me what the new hexen stuff does?

Monks always could, unless they had lopsided plate. This change is awful. I was setting aside some cash to finally rune a speed wounding katana with this sale, but I'm going to wait and see if its even worth it, or if I should just change archtypes. We aren't all Ash's or Shuyins, and we aren't all sitting on that sort of health.
I'm sure as hell not spending another minute forging until I figure out if I'm wasting my time. I'll wait to see the first warrior wearing proofed splendors. If that happens, I'll swap to monk or something.
Xenthos2008-07-14 07:24:20
This one really shouldn't be the End Of The World.
Unknown2008-07-14 07:27:44
I don't get this change, the major reason I've heard from people is that they dropped it because of spec plate, so why nerf the entire set, why not just lower the max stats fullplate can have. I've heard everything from, it's to stop demigod warriors from being un-killable, to the envoys want it, and it's to stop people having spec plate.
I'd honestly just like a rational reason from the admin as to why this change had to be done.
It's end of the world because we wheren't notified about it, it was in the envoy list, so no one but the envoys knew about it, a max of which would be a total of 3 forgers, unless Xenthos changed.

Mixed feelings about this one. It levels the playing field a bit so people won't have to sit at forges forever. But one, 50% reserves is a bit too much and two, giving us 90/90 plate is complete BS. That's 80/80, which is considered to be useless fieldplate.

If you change archetypes you'll STILL be less tanky than you are now. It's a downgrade from best in the game to still best in the game but not quite so high. And even then the nerf is only to bashing/monks/knights. Fyi prenerf I was doing less wounds to knights (as an ascendant) than could be cured up in one apply...in two combos.
Though, I wouldn't mind you joining Shofangi if you think you could stand the silent guild. Especially after our combat is fixed.

All I can say is
and
I was looking forward to the nice fullplate as you know, a reason to be a knight. Tankiness comes with the class. Glad I took Sacraments so I will have Numen and Trueheal. Meh. 1000 credits and NOW they get nerfed. How could no one have mentioned this to me... I feel so cold and alone now, not even my forge can keep me company. Trans a tradeskill AND a forging hammer and the best we get is +10/+10 and no-decay vs the next knight who has poisons?

Hyrtakos2008-07-14 07:49:41
So basically the problem was spec fullplate, which I didn't even think was possible, and was solved by going overboard with three nerfs to forging in general?
Firstly, I thought you could only ever have one set of fullplate and this makes perfect sense and would effectively remove spec fullplate immediately. Leastways, it would after adding a power cost so you can't just run to a forge and mark a new set of fieldplate depending on whom you're fighting.
Why does it really need to be destroyed when marking a new set though? We all already lost 100 metals comms the moment they all reverted. 50% reserves isn't enough to keep people more honest?
Regardless.... 420 credits for 5% extra cutting/blunt resistance amidst the most taxing tradeskill around makes me depressed that I gave up my old tradeskill to take it up.

Ok, seems like 90/90 was pre-marking, so it's not so bad.
I'm quite lucky, in that I never bought a mallet so I have had few opportunities to actually forge a fullplate. The best I had was 105/102.

I have to wonder, it seems the only people who are actually angered by this change are the non-demigod warriors, whereas everyone else seems to be fine by the change. I wonder why.

It's actually an upgrade to warriors.
It just makes forging... makes forging... well.. yeah...

Trust me, if I had spent hours upon hours forging three awesome plates, I'd be pretty annoyed too. One huge flaw I think the admins have is that when they make large scale changes like these, they don't really compensate the players for the amount of time they may have had to spend on acquiring what they have now lost.
