If getting hit by the runes equals death, that's insanely overpowered.

If it's having the afflictions of the runes indicated, unless these runes are already set up in a way that makes it difficult to stay completely cured, I'm guessing that this instakill is pretty worthless. Great for people like me, who can't cure, sure. But then basic damage would get me, too. rolleyes.gif

If you aren't afflicted with the ailments of the 5 runes at the end, the prophesy will fail. That's doesn't make it hard?

I have a question. Was this intended to help out Druids? Don't get me wrong, I like it when Druids get some loving, but, Mages won't see much use of that skill. The changes to Isa work wonders for the Aquamancers, since it improves their preserve. Put Isa, Iceflow and you'll get easier preserve.

Any ideas how a Geomancer could use runes now? suspicious.gif

A druid who knows how to stick sap will more than likely able to pull the instakill.

I can see how that would be underpowered if sap was nerfed some more, actually. Pretty damn hard to stack that many affs, especially when some of them are on terrible balances like freeze.

I wonder if those who are dying to it are curing the afflictions then? From the way some are explaining their demise, it did not seem like simply curing them would stop the process.

If all it takes is curing the afflictions, then a person can avoid it still while sapped. Just have to treat sap like choke in that situation, and cure the afflictions that may give that insta-kill first. Now my only question is do we, the intended victims, know which afflictions are needed for the runist to pull off the insta-kill? Also, can the insta-kill be pulled off through a shield or prismatic sphere?

Superslinging Cen rune if possible might help slow them down.
Arilyon2008-07-15 08:33:01
Shield blocks the runes, as far as whether you see which rune I need, I'm not certain. When I tested with Silvanus once, I was supposed to throw Peorth and tried throwing Eh to see if it would fail the process. It did not fail it, so I then went ahead and threw the Peorth that was intended, and it continued on through the prophesy. Afterwards, he asked what I was supposed to throw, so I'm not sure if he just did not see it, or if I confused him by throwing the wrong thing.

EDIT: I just asked Shuyin if he was able to see what rune was required when I tested with him and he said that he was not able to tell which rune I was required to throw.

Since you have to fling the rune it shouldnt work against shields, as you should get a failed to fling message for hitting shield.

It was just tested, its not checking if they have the affs it seems. Just as long as you use all those runes.

Well stupidity in Choke/Aeon is harder to deal with than it is in Sap. Sap delay is only .5 seconds, compared to the 1 second of Choke/Aeon.

Malarious:

Then it is bugged it would seem?

Yes. If you get frost, you cure it on purgative. If someone slings hwhatever, and (say) cen at you, you would eat a pennyroyal, and then drink fire before having to wait for herb balance from the cen back.

So this is confirmation right here, that curing the afflictions does not stop the prophecy. It needs to be bugged then.
Unknown2008-07-15 08:53:35
The new instakill sounds fine so long as this bug is fixed. I like the "Simon Says" aspect of it too.
Unknown2008-07-15 09:00:01
Once the bug is fixed it sounds cool. May be more useful for druids with sap but they needed a break from the sap + cudgel tactic anyhow.

PS: -Did- someone bug it?

PPS: Xenthos you're not helpful at all!

PPS: How long is the timer? And does the timer start when you initiate the prohepsy or is there a seperate one for each rune?

PPPS: Anyone wanna post what the "simon says" message for the runist looks like? Just personal curiosity.

From what Arilyon sent me:

Glaring at Xiel, you gather the runes in your hand and crush them, ominously staining them with your own blood, feeling
the winds of Fate sweep around you. In a wild cackle, you foretell that Xiel's life shall soon draw to a close.
The ominous image of a rune appears briefly in the air before you.

Another question:

What does the amulet protect against? Any and all afflictions? Is it %-based (and what % exactly) or a sure thing?

And also.. currently it doesn't seem to give a room message when the amulet protects. Any chance that could please please be added?

EDIT: To clarify. It seems right now that when the amulet protects you, the attacker -still- gets a success message on their attack. If for example I shofa the druid with a paralysis modifier, it will tell me my attack went through and give the shofa paralysis room message. But then the amulet will actually have protected against the shofangi action and as such they -aren't- paralysed.

That is where I'd like a room message that says "your attack went through but the amulet protected so in fact it was nullified" OR a fail message on the shofangi action (or just now show the paralysis message in the first place). Getting a success message on an attack that actually -failed- is utterly confusing.
