We don't want bashing in large groups to be impossible, of course. As I've indicated several times, we are monitoring the changes and will make necessary tweaks. No reason to get hysterical!

On a side note, I'm probably going to make linking during wild nodes impossible.

What would be nice is something similar to what Imperian has. It really encourages group bashing. You make a party, then have a party channel to talk on to all party members, then as long as you are in the same room as someone in the party you both get experience and the experience is raised by x% for being in the party.

I am not saying go and steal their entire idea, as Lusternia is against just copying, but the concept really does encourage groups to bash, helps overall in grinding levels, and would be something to consider for Lusternia.

Group rings would be pretty amazing, actually, and I'm surprised that it hasn't been implemented yet due to the fact that it's so user-friendly. As for the rest, I'm a bit disappointed that such a large (and ultimately uneccessary) step was taken with regards to Astral bashing, and I agree with Deschain's dissertation about group combat. However, I do also see the need for there to be a challenge, and ultimately the problem will be balancing the two (especially when you take into account that not all group bashes will be comprised of 10 demigods). Haven't been t astral just yet after this most recent softening of the change, but Ihope it is sufficient.

I've considered grouping rings or something similar. However, they would need to be inferior to covens and mindlinks (or somehow covens and mindlinks would have to be superior) in order for them to work in Lusternia. Also, I've heard complaints that they tend to reinforce OOCness and I'm not sure how to resolve that (force guilds/cities/communes to declare who their members could group with?). Anyway, ideas welcome (someone want to start in Ideas subforum?).

If group rings are implemented here, I'd ask that the experience be divided dependent on the number of people in the rings.

I don't know exactly how rings function, but mindlinks and covens are kind of unimpressive. Mindlinks are pretty much just there, and covens basically exist as ways to resurgem/penumbra with the rare (once every few RL months is about how often I see them) rage/terror.

Change harvest so that as a member of a coven, all members get a small bonus in experience just for being part of the coven...

Keep in mind that group bashing will still be far more often done on Astral than everywhere else simply because mobs don't support it anywhere else.

Anyways in response... Rings also increase experience gained for each person in the ring. I can't remember but I think it is like a 5% Exp buff.

So mobs in all areas are worth more to bash in a group than they are to bash solo.

Oh, ok. happy.gif And it was only kind of the wrong thread since Estarra was talking about the fluctuations of the Astral swarming viability here. Maybe I should siphon that into a new thread if it goes on though.

Something in Imperian that gives yu 1500% exp return, but the destoryed the quest to get them... I sell you mine for 2000 Lusternia credits though....

this is late but, omg why do you have to nerf group bashing? it already sucks and with no xp scaling there is no inscentive to group up at all.
meh wheres my boom shield when I need it..

Well batbane was fixed...almost.

Damage boost? Didn't we just nerf bard damage? Nothing like fixing problems only to undo it all a few weeks later.

Cudgel change wasn't necessary. Hooray.
