I strongly disagree with giving phased individuals flight, or any elevation apart from ground. The way Rapture deals with elevations makes it nearly impossible to catch people who are switching among them or tell where they are or are not. With phased individuals, their vulnerability when caught is supposed to be the only way to deal with them. Making them harder to catch is thus a bad idea, in my opinion.

Meh. Point taken. But how could they explain a non-corporeal form being affected by gravity IC?
Daganev2006-05-21 07:54:25
The power in the basin is such that if you go too far from the land the link can not be maintained.

Doesn't work. If a dreamer can't fly above its body on Avechna's Peak, then it can't go to the Skarch Desert on the ground.

You asked for it!
Since we have non-directional targetting and magic that works on concepts and specific kinds of targets, rather than mechanical changes, it's safe to assume that Lusternia has a sort of philosophic "formalism," in the lines of Plato or Aquinas. Now, while the dream body may not be affected by gravity at all, the body still takes the form of a walking biped, and thus behaves like its native form. It is a property of whatever walking biped your character happens to be to be drawn towards the ground. Wings or defs are used to overcome this, both of which require action on the corporeal. Your character may retain wings out of dreambody, but the nature of wings is not to provide flight (see viscanti and penguins). The nature of wings is to move air, move water, or decorate a gothic demon/renaissance angel wannabe. Thus, your character, in retaining the form of the corporeal body, is bound to walk.

Subj: Cosmic Skills
In addition to the new skills in Nihilism and Celestialism, there is
also an additional ability that allows Nihilists and Celestines
to BREAK their pacts and pledges (which includes the deep
bonds). This ability is learned as soon as one is able to pact or
pledge.
Penned by My hand on the 20th of Roarkian, in the year 147 CE.
What are the new skills? Did they get a new bashing skill?

I've heard that they do. I wonder how is it in comparastion with the staff one for the Mancers
Daganev2006-05-22 06:46:58
this new cosmic skill, isn't this in danger of giving a guardian the ability to do two afflictions at once that shouldn't be happening?
Is it possible to do the two affliction lock with invested powers?
Also, is BREAK forceable?

Murphy2006-05-22 07:23:43
It never has been able to lock with 2 invested powers, and guardians have always been able to hit with 2 at a time, this just gives them the ability to hit with 3 if you do nothing else, and gives better bashing.
In my mind it's a minor upgrade, although i don't like the ability of celestines to give blackout on every balance, combined with the champion pet it could just get so silly you rarely ever see yourself unblacked out in a fight, however that remains to be seen.

They gave Celestines the ability to blackout at will? Don't we already have enough archetypes that can blackout?
Murphy2006-05-22 08:01:26
yeh i think the vapours affliction is too much, blackout especially with celestines means that if they have a soulless rubbed, then you -have- to tumble out of each blackout because you can't tell if it's been thrown or not.
well you don't have to, but a good fighter doesn't leave those things to chance and respects the threat.

someone get a log of fighting someone with vapours on angel and vapors on the symbol!
Soll2006-05-22 08:49:01
It'll be a while before that happens. Got to lead a (large) number of supplicants to Raziela's tabernacle first, then Deep Bond to Raziela, then call the symbol, then first. And also find someone who's willing to go against the RP of Deep Bonding to Raziela - thus implying that you find Her path the most enlightening - to fight someone else. I doubt we'll see any high usage of Raziela's symbol in combat. At the moment, you're looking at about 1 Deep Bond per IRL day from the Celestines. It's not something you can do particularly quickly.
Murphy2006-05-22 09:08:33
and that someone will be thoros or amaru, since it's clearly the best affliction you can give.
Soll2006-05-22 09:11:42
The guild would have plenty to say if either Amaru or Thoros Deep Bonded to Raziela.
And Vapours is only going to be nasty if you actually cure it, since it hits about once every 30 seconds, and lasts for ~5 seconds.![laugh.gif](style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif)

The guild would say lol good on you thoros and amaru for perfecting your combat abilites to be better champions.
And vapors is going to be nasty when combined with the angel, considering ents tick at like 12 seconds and vapors black out lasts for about 5 seconds as you said, with active vapors + passive vapors you can keep people on blackout nearly constantly add in the champion pets blackout and its a fully mobile near 100% blackout all the time.
Icarus is correct you get hit with blackout the instant you get hit with vapors it isnt a matter of bad curing you just get hit by it.
