I guess this counts as an Envoy change?
Anyway, 10 rooms does seem a bit small in my opinion!

Well. This is the exact reason why the administration should not be putting a hand in balancing the game. But hey, a lot of you Mages/Druids voted for combat balance. Though, I will say that I feel that 10 rooms PLUS the same/adjacent room is ridiculous. You should have one or the other, not both. Honestly, I feel that if you have the room size go back the way it was, it's not really an issue anymore as far as effects go since they're limited to same room/adjacent.

Just envoy quicker eq on unforced terraining and melding and accept that demesnes are no longer there for static area defense. It's obnoxious, but it can be worked around.
Unknown2009-11-07 23:16:36
So, do the passive effects only work inside a demesne still? Or can I set them up and walk around smacking people without a demesne?

LIGHT CENSER or TRUEGROUND. Byebye effects.

I predict mass exodus from the Mage/Druid guilds by tomorrow.

If druids/mages are going to be less static, changes should be made to make us more mobile.
Unknown2009-11-07 23:33:40
Maybe we can be made tankier?

Mages are already not too bad outside of demesne with Psionics (the other specs are not as good out of meld and shared with Druids, but not many mages go for the other specs because they're so much worse, heh). Druids are the ones locked to demesnes, so... could use being made a bit more mobile.

Sure. If Ceren's TK Forcefield and Charisma Rune get toned down.

Upgrade staff/cudgel?

Agreed. Especially druids.

Melders should have been given the option to set effects outside their meld. Now all that will happen with a 1 room buffer zone is the melder will get the bumrush by the opposing force before they can get effects set up. Even using the now very costly instaset all effects skill, they will be left helpless with little to no power as the opposition storms in on them and delivers the beat down.
Either allow melders to set effects outside their meld, upon their person, or drastically lower the cost of the insta effects skill so that they can set their effects before being ganked and still have power left to defend themselves with.

Well, we can, it just sucks and doesn't follow you around.

I believe I've already went over why meld effects cannot be "auras" or to be set up outside of melds so any suggestions should keep those guidelines in mind.
Gregori2009-11-08 00:34:35
I like all the announced changes so far, just need to fix the melder issue of setting their effects. Nerfing melders was good. Completely raping them was bad.
@Estarra Halve the cost of regrowth and the mage equivalent. This way they can reset effects in a fight and if the opposition does rush them they have enough power left over that they are not left completely helpless.

Just as an aside. The Druid/Mage disparity has been around forever. A solution to this would be... stop giving every skill Druids have to everyone else so Druids can actually fix their skills without upgrading everyone else, thereby getting told no on any report that would help Druids.
Edit:: As an example the only unique skill Druids have is Druidry.

If I recall it was because you need a way to make sure multiples melders don't have effects in the same room. You could still let them prepare effects outside of demesne, and just have them not do anything until they're in their demesne.
Something to keep in mind with making the demesne max smaller, if every room of the demesne is broken all of the effects are canceled and will need to be reset.
Unknown2009-11-08 01:16:24
Hope plans are you in order to replace Aquamancy currents and possibly(?) a few other skills that require rooms.
Seems I escaped the nerf button by a day! It does seem like a big ouch though.

Obliviousness is useless for anything other than ignoring influence spam.
Half of a fight is knowing what people are curing. You can't see any curing at all, so your fight is complete guesstimation... 'I guess they cured that, so I will try again.' 'I guess they didn't cure that so I will try something else now.'
Please fix so a great idea is not rendered useless.

So what do you want obliviousness to do? What should get suppressed?
