Well, it's still a lot of work to do to gain access to the skill. It'll be interesting to analyse the strength and effects of symbols.

It doesn't need to be your first pledge. You can deepbond with any Supernal, as long as you've pledged to them, if I understood correctly.

The effort you need to make in order to deepbond is supposed to prevent jumping from one to another on a whim, I suppose.

Oh, and just to note, Symbols will never reach the damage of staves in PvP. In PvE, perhaps, but not against other players. So there's another benefit to you being a mage, Sham.
