Yea thats what I ment by not thinging it out before adding in skills, everyone and their dog knows and says transmigrate is overpowered so why add in a skill that is basially better than transmigrate, although not by much because you really cant get much better.

Yeah, its by much.

Fair enough I hear its few moments bashing compared to a 28 power cost is the difference? Aside from the set up cost do they both not provide a exp loss res everywhere?
Ah I forgot the transmirgation has the slight tiny down side of the pet? Is that what makes the difference in your eyes?

There's the passive affliction thing, if you didn't know about that.
Unknown2006-06-14 01:45:59
One possibility of an affliction for every damage type you hit with. So if you were to nail three crow users with a boulderblast (cutting, blunt, poison) that is 9 potential affliction hits. Not that you'd get 9 - I'm not even sure if there are that many to choose from, and not every one would fire. But it would still be a lot.

I think there are like 5 total afflictions that it can give.

They are pretty damn good afflictions though.
I'd say scrap the afflictions, make it return a little damage instead. And make eye sigils prevent the rez. *nod me*

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they do. The rezz isnt instant. It says you feel the dark spirit calling you home, and then its like a minute or so before you actually come back to life.

Just make it instant rez, but 1 minute while your body reforms at the nest. Problem solved.

I thought you just said you wanted eye sigils to stop it?

Aye, combined with instant rez so you have to drop the sigil before you die, not in the minute you're hanging around as a spirit.

When I tested it with my runed waraxe, the maximum number of afflictions I received were three (I suppose one from cutting, one from fire and one from lightning) and I get at least one every hit. With my non-runed greataxe (high precision, low damage) I get only one affliction out of may be five hits. My guess is that the probability of getting an affliction reflected back is proportional to the amount of damage dealt to the Blacktalon. But it is just a guess.
As for the afflictions themselves, they are more of an annoyance which anyone with decent curing can handle with ease. Combat-wise, I cannot say that the skill is overpowered and I think it is original and well thought out.
But of course, the death prevention side of it is entirely another matter.

Yeah, the more damage they have, the higher the chance of you getting an affliction.
Shorlen2006-06-14 02:22:00
What ARE the afflictions, if you don't mind my asking? Someone just said they were really powerful ones, and the next person said they were trivial ones - which is it?
Xavius2006-06-14 02:24:13
I can't speak well for the warriors, but they're pretty pointless for a runic or ecologist druid. Dementia, healthleech, masochism, scabies, and pox. Scabies and pox have potential for the dreamweaving saplock. Maybe they're more useful for warriors. I dunno.

I consider them low priority afflictions.

EDIT: Oh Elryn, did you edit your post? You are the one who said something about the afflictions being too powerful, right?

hmm, what gave me recklessness then? odd.
Unknown2006-06-14 06:54:34
I said they were pretty damn good. Scabies and pox masked is annoying as hell - or at least I find them so. Same with masochism.
I'm contrasting those afflictions to ones like shyness, vertigo, weakness, etc.
Edit: And no, I didn't edit my post.

Dementia, scabies, pox? Hehe, I expected paralysis or stupidity. Guess I won't have to update my triggers after all, since these ones are as deadly as if the skill gave you Bad Breath or a Slightly Depressive Mood.
