I dunno, I think the buff nerfage solved a lot of problems for things like Kaervas' insane demesne damage and athana's insane mindblast (even though mindblast got nerfed) It pretty much took out the insane possibilities to make it so the not so insanely buffed people wouldn't get the short end of the stick when envoys are done. I think this was the right thing to do.

I really like the change. The system they chose for it is really nice, and it definitely eliminates extremes, which makes every skill in the game that much easier to balance.

All you combatants say that you love IRE for its combat...well, this is a step towards making it much more tactical and less "Ha, I have the most buffs, I win" sort of thing.. which is even less fun than rock-papper-scissors tongue.gif

Rock paper scissors is much better than rock-paper-explosive

I like the buff changes too. There is still a reason to get buffs, just that now they will not directly stack with each other. The absurdity in how powerful some abilities became with buff stacking has now been removed. As Shryke has stated, it now allows the Admin to look at the skills on their own merits and balance them without fear of overpowering the upper extreme ends of power.

They would've gotten the same or even more if they had just capped certain abilities. As it stands, you can forget level 100 completely. And they should've told me that before I got a now useless throne.

My throne still works. huh.gif

Netzach + throne = +2 charisma

Brings me at exact the amount I have of con, and just for a third point in cha, I won't get a blessing. tongue.gif

Don't see why people are whining. Sure, an unbuffed Demigod has the same stats as an unbuffed Titan, but it's easier for a Demigod to get that next stat point. More stat weight is always better because it makes it harder to lower your stats/easier to raise them further.

Duh.
Ixion2006-06-18 09:35:32
Getting demigod for me would be utterly useless. As a titan it's easy for me to hit the caps on strength and charisma. Heck, with a herofete I can hit the stat caps without titan for str/cha.

Don't get Demigod, then. Demigods aren't meant to be huge buffs for fighting. They do have, y'know, huge roleplaying potential. Which does happen to be something else that Lusternia focuses on. Not everything is combat.

Just a majority of it, because, you know, we can't just yell at each other or shout at each other saying "PEW PEW PEW PEW, YOU LOSE." when we agree to disagree. closedeyes.gif

I mean comon, who here will agree with someone else in-game unless it's hating on someone else? Lawlz, we are such haterz. So combat ensues because the bigger sword is better than the bigger pen in muds, unless a god is there to enforce a wordplay or penplay win. Death is so much easier.

Demi-GOD, i'll accentuate the GOD part. Big stats, yes? You can't argue against them innately having it.

Don't say that too loud; someone will have a heart attack. ninja.gif

My throne only gives 1 charisma, but it still gives a boost.

Also, as far as Demigods go... I'm sort of glad they are being gradually lessened in power. This way they don't have to be discouraged from participating in regular combat.

It depends on what other buffs you have what the throne gives.

no buffs + throne = +2cha still

Yes. And then you get killed and back to Titan 0% because some guy decided that everything IS combat and killed you.

Which is generally why you hide away until you have an essence buffer, or you use Divine fire, or you use Go Havens, or you use refresh myself. You know. Things like that.

Which all cost essence themselves. And I'd love to see how much essence you count as a buffer. Try bashing up 500k essence in the canalisation or on weevils. tongue.gif
Soll2006-06-18 15:37:40
I'd class a buffer as 1mil essence. I am quite certain that a Demigod would be able to handle Astral without worrying overly about dying. Else they could just stick to influencing a few places every month, and build up that buffer within about a week.

Hm, yes, but as you quite good know, Astral is free PK game. So, as soon as you are up there, you get jumped once before you got enough essence, die, and lose Demigod again. Or you lose connection once, or make mistake. Really, Demigod is now far worse than Titan, and if you want to it for mainly RP, you should never again leave your city.
