Also, Fury/Maelstrom/Geothingy all remove demesne effects when cast

Not anymore.

... yes, they do.

.... just looked at my log, and I checked DEMESNE after casting fury but a second before the effect actually fired. Stupid delayed effects.
Unknown2006-06-22 20:28:03
There's a delay between casting it and it happening?
Soll2006-06-22 20:28:51
I'd love it if they didn't, buuut. Probably better that they do.

Roughly twelve seconds between casting and hitting.

You release the grip on your staff, and it hovers in the air before you.
Unleashing all the powers in your demesne, a gusher of sapphire water fountains
up and surrounds a coral staff in sparkling bubbles.
The sky glows with glowing sapphire clouds that release a powerful rain that (<-- Ewww..)
pounds down upon you in heavy sheets.

Effects are destroyed when it hits. As an aside, I'm very upset by the final strike of the Maelstrom message. The buildup is awesome, and then we just get 'Dark lightning crackles'. sad.gif We're not an Electric-based Guild! sad.gif sad.gif Our other instantkill is a bland message, too. Not like Geomancer's chasm atall. sad.gif Something like 'You raise a hand and blast Soll with a gust of frigid air. Soll's eyes turn to cloudy white orb, and he is frozen in place.'

And yes, it says 'cloudy white orb'. I did not make that grammatical mistake by accident.
Unknown2006-06-22 20:30:17
The Geomancer one is 'Pollute', by the way.

Yeah. You have time to run out of the demesne before it hits. Which is why it was so useless before, when it destroyed your staff -and- left you without mana -or- power.
ferlas2006-06-22 20:33:12
It has some potential to be useful then, start it blast away with some high damage effects like the aqua staff or mind burst and you end up with a big boost at the end. The manas a problem against a lot of classes though.

Edit: It dosnt destroy the staff now right? Hmm nice just the effects then you can easily try it again just with the power limitation

I wonder how good it is for Hartstone when combined with Pathtwist? Of course, you need to wait for five power to regen before you can fury after pathtwisting, so I'm not sure it's worth it...

Yeah.. If you're fighting a Nihilist or Celestine close range, you'd never use Pollute(Thanks, Guido)/Maelstrom. Instant death; moreso against Celestines than Nihilists.
ferlas2006-06-22 20:36:12
Ohh they should make the druid one do about 1k bleeding, think of it. Start it desert smudge cudgel cudgel it hits with the desert smudge you could easily stack up 2k+ bleeding in that time.

With bigger demesnes it might have been nicer, but with smaller ones, its a good chance they might hop out of your demesne and waste the pathtwist before you have the power for Fury. But I suppose it couldn't hurt to see what strategies you could come up with to help with that.

Hmm, if someone is blacked out, do they notice the pathtwist?
Sylphas2006-06-22 21:16:19
Can you still get around Pathtwist by sprinting/leaping/rolling/tumbling/flying/burrowing/teleporting/beaming/traveling/being summoned/being empressed/anything but walking?

Toads can't swim now, right? I'd love to watch someone Maelstrom, toadcurse them, and stomp them dead before Maelstrom hit.

Probably. But that's where Shorlen's idea of landing it during a blackout would come in handy, as that would mask it, and they'd likely never know it was there until they were trying to run for the hills.

Even better: Paranoia whammy right before 'strom hits. smile.gif

I meant it would be nice if you could pooka force someone to do Maelstrom/Pollute/Fury for that plan, but you cant, so tongue.gif
Sylphas2006-06-22 21:32:38
Ah, right. That was my first test when I went druid, because it used to absolute wreck you.

I'm very intrigued with paranoia though. They let off Maelstrom/Pollute, I wait, wait, paranoia at the right time, and they nuke their whole team.

That would be far too amusing.

Does everyone see those messages? If so, just shield - or run if it goes through.
