The change doesn't impact much, --Whenever I fought you I found it easier to just allhex and nightkiss with fae, that was usually enough. Though for the top tier combat the hexaura change is something that will give us a decent chance to fight high level/might/skilled people, because our aeon does not stick like waning can, all you have to do is leave the room, it can't be reapplied easily--so yes, whee for changes!

Of course, "all you have to do is leave the room" is a bit simplified given you can block exits via trees/air and by any magic means including tumble. With icewalls, it gets pretty nasty.
Diamante2006-07-08 06:57:13
yes previously you had to leap or ignite the icewalls. Now you can tumble, and thus aeon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>choke ever could be

Estarra, is there a problem with the knight to-hit rate again?

CODE
+ Warriors will have less odds of having multiple misses in a row.
Conversely, there is less odds of going a long time with no misses. The
overall hit/miss ratio is the same; the odds of having a hit streak or
miss streak is simply reduced.

4 out of 6 were misses, including double misses. I've noticed this a lot lately, double misses are no less prevalent than before.

Edit: another double miss as I type this..
Edit: and again...
Vix2006-07-09 00:17:26
Yeah, Flacarealah had a lot of trouble with missing things yesterday too.

Estarra, is there a problem with the knight to-hit rate again?

It seems to be following what the code you quoted states. Our to-hit rate was not changed; only our chances of having streaks of hits or misses was changed. That tells me that you will see the hits and misses more evenly spread out over your combat, instead of seeing streaks of either one.

Maybe warriors should not miss mobiles at all when the warrior has mastered knighthood, and is not afflicted with clumsiness. Mobs only though, because the to-hit rate against players should remain the same.
Ixion2006-07-09 00:26:08
I interpret multiple misses starting at more than one. The point of the change was to make knight to-hit rates better by removing a string of misses. As I just showed and have experienced, it really hasn't been helped with any noticable effects.

No misses against mobs would be a reasonable corrective measure if trans knighthood.
Unknown2006-07-09 00:29:21
I agree. If every other class has 100% accuracy against denizens, knights should too. Newton is infinitely easier as a magic user than as a knight, for example. And it should be like it for everyone, not just trans knighthood.

Also, it seems like combatstyles aren't doing much. I tested bashing with the lightning combat style and consistently got the exact same number of seconds between balance recovery as I did with no style.

Yes, I agree on the definition of multiple. One example of Two misses seems to be still statistically possible according to the code you quoted. If you showed me something where you were double or triple missing multiple times in fights against denizens, then I would question if the code was working correctly. Instead, I question if the change was the right one. I do not think so.

Lightning and concentrated to have minor effects, that work, from my tests. Unfortunately, they are so minor that they are hardly worth bothering with.
Unknown2006-07-09 01:05:52
So combat styles don't really factor into bashing? Well, I suppose aggressive could cut down the attacks it takes to kill a handful of things by one.
Ixion2006-07-09 01:33:25
Aggressive does absolutely nothing.
Ildaudid2006-07-09 01:42:31
I agree with the mob hitting 100% of the time issue. I bash with mages and I am constantly missing, while watching them never miss.
Alger2006-07-09 01:55:34
Actually I'm afraid if they made the stance effects any more significant it might cause problems. It would be cool if we had yet another implementation in the way we fight but it is shakey ground to just boost the effects of these things.
Athana2006-07-09 01:59:18
Yeah, give the poor warriors a break...Guardians already got bashing help with symbols
Narsrim2006-07-09 07:19:22
Wouldn't the increased rate of criticals make warriors the far far better than all other classes bashing if they never missed? At low levels, it would probably be even, but at higher levels where like 20+ percent of attacks are criticals.
Sylphas2006-07-09 07:21:07
Yes. Anything with multiple attacks is always by far the best bashing at high levels.
Unknown2006-07-09 07:29:30
I think a Mugwump pointing staff is far better than a shadowlord faeling rapier with no misses

That's not always true...I have hunted with plenty of knights (Ixion, Daevos, Kharvik (when he was Ur'guard) and sure they get -more- criticals but you have to understand that their criticals do not equal mage criticals....for instance Ixion has gotten WSC's on bulls and they still live...while all it takes for me is a crushing critical so it pretty much evens out in the end except that they can also miss.
Ildaudid2006-07-09 07:46:27
Yes, the knight crits are based off of the damage stat of the weapon. Unlike magic crits which are based off of something like a laser canon. Also some of us only get 1 swing/jab so we don't get double crits. But again our crit may be a little more effective than say a rapier crit since our damage stat should be slightly higher. But all in all with it being based of weapon dam stats and every smart warrior bashes with speed weapons not damage weapons there should be no reason we can't hit 100% of the time. I mean even if they make it so we hit 100% of the time once we trans our specialization that would be nice.
