Anyone seen it yet? Is it worth my watching? I've played the 1st, 3rd and 4th games (only have the 3rd with but) so I might hold off if I'd need to've seen the whole series to understand it.
Opinions?

Too few badass monster scenes, including pyramid-head. Too many scenes of the wench running around, usually directly into danger, screaming for her offspring and yet somehow *not* ending up hanging from three to four separate lampposts due to her moronic behaviour.

D'oh. I was afraid of that. Worth watching anyway, or bad enough that it's not worth the time?

How many game-based movies have been good or worth watching? I can probably count them all on one hand.
Richter2006-04-23 07:04:21
There were any at all?

the first Resident Evil wasn't bad as a movie. If you weren't trying to compare it to the game. Taking it as its own movie, I found it enjoyable.

Advent Children was pretty good...

I saw it on Friday night and was pretty much pissed I wasted money on it. Though I enjoyed the cinematics and the special effects the dialogue was just -bad-. The movie was sold out and countless times through the movie the audience just started laughing at it. Everytime they mentioned burning witches people would start laughing and mention lines from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It wasn't scary at all (for me that's saying something because I'm easily freaked out by these kind of movies) so I was very disappointed. Also, the monsters just weren't that cool, though Pyramid Head made me happy.

Bah. Maybe I'll give it a miss then.

Isn't that exactly how the game played?
You could never see where you were heading.

Like I told you on IRC, I was just a bit dissapointed with it overall, due to a distinct lack of that "creepy" feeling I was so fond of playing the games. I was annoyed that the stupid woman couldn't remain in one "definement" and kept switching from being ridiculously scared all the damned time to being randomly dominant and fearless for no reason. I was upset that a certain character died, because they were fxcking awesome to the plot, and I'm also upset that a certain person managed to survive in the end.
Granted, the "Barbed wire scene," as I like to call it, was badass, but I'd have to say it was one of the few high points aside from the frickin' awesome pyramid head ( Who I wished had shown up a bit more ). The ending was pleasantly Silent Hill-ish, which was alright, I suppose.
I dunno, I suppose I'd rate it as Mediocre, but you know... it was at least better than what it -could- have been if they had that one retarded director ( Of House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark - Two great concepts for movies that he brutally raped ) have at it like I thought they were going to.
So, in the end.. I'd say see it, but don't expect much from it :/

To quote a chick I know.
This movie was so bad that I regret sneaking in to see it.

In the same way that a telescope cannot be made to examine itself, I believe that writing in a way can't be used to examine the dialogue of this movie. There is something foul about language after what this writer has done with it.
If I'm not mistaken, the guy who wrote the script is the same who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Pulp Fiction. What happened to him?
