True enough, but Lucidians be prone to a fair amount of mechanics the shouldn't be. They're solid chunks of crystal, how do they bleed? How do they have muscles or tendons to attack?
This is a case of mechanics necessarily overriding roleplay. It'd be too much work designing specific damage/affliction messages for lucidians, and imbalancing to flag them as immune to stuff like breaknose. I guess the closest you're going to come is #subbing it to better fit your mental image. Sorry, man.
Eventru2009-10-24 14:50:08
Lucidians could quite probably get a broken nose.
Arguably, theirs should be harder to fix! Where's the jeweler?

Many crystal structures shatter quite easily with enough direct blunt force, Lucidians wouldn't be immune at all.

Maybe, but how do you use essentially ANY Blademaster or Pureblade ability against them? They'd just look at you, laugh, and cut you with their sharp fingers.

Quite the opposite, if a blademaster or pureblade tried to cut you you'd more likely crack and lose a limb.

Not really. The blade wouldn't carry enough force with a Rapier, which is what most Blademasters use. A katana is more likely to work, but it depends on how you use it. A thrust or hack into the center of mass would be fruitless, but a hack(Not a thrust) to the arm would cause some damage.

A katana is a cutting weapon only. You could even cut the crystal by considering that Lucidian crystal is built up in layers and the Pureblade always knows where to cut between the layers. There are also excellent IG resources, such as a book on how Lucidians have a layer of goo/moss (blood) flowing inside their crystal bodies. This goo/moss absorbs sunlight, too, hence the regeneration during daytime.

Uou mean Telp's book? Which is entirely arbitrary?

Question: Were they submitted as Scholarly Prestige materials? Did either win?
That's how player-made materials become "canon", or so we are told.

You might as well ask why stainless steel goats aren't immune to cutting damage.

That depends: Are they Skeletal or Statuesque? If it's just a Skeletal goat, cutting damage can very well transfer into blunt damage and work quite well. If they're Statuesque, logically they SHOULD just have blades bounce off of them

So, if I hack up, should that stick up your butt do extra internal bleeding?

That's not quite true. Simply because it wins a Prestige spot doesn't make it 'Canon'. In reality, if all 4 orgs submitted pieces about how Shikari was actually a walking talking lemon, one of them would win. This does not Shikari a lemon-man make.
Players who wish to walk the route of Catarin and have written work become renown as 'canon' need to speak to their Patron about it.
If Catarin were active, she'd be following this post with a commentary on how much of a pain it is.
I can't put into words, really, how painful it -is-. But it's not very fun, heh.
EDIT: Aha. I spent about ten minutes of my life searching from announce 1 to find it. ANNOUNCE NEWS #760 details it a bit more.

Nope.

(You're right that simply submitting it doesn't count, but scholarly works can and have been accepted via this system. No extra work required. Player-submitted canon that doesn't take leaping through hoops, but does take a good amount of research and effort).
The difference is that Catarin went through a very hefty research / background / history thing, whereas much of this is less detailed canon, I think. Even the internal workings of a Lucidian isn't quite as in-depth as full-blown history of a guild into the depths of the past.

Ah, well, I suppose I have been out-did by the Lady in Heels - three years before my post!
Well then. Look, a distraction!
EDIT: Though, re-reading my post, I'm not wrong! Simply winning doesn't make it cannon. Doesn't mean it isn't, however! (Note Estarra's qualifier about divine scholar's comments) *skims off by the skin of his teeth, noting on the way we've said the same thing*

This thread now reminds me of all those arguments I've heard about how Batman can totally kick Superman's butt and vice-versa.

Of course he could, Superman is a tool!
At any rate, placeholder! I'll be placing my description here once I get to tweeking it a little bit more, not quite done yet.
