Then again they thought that wirelessness, touch screens and voice commands would attract people to the DS. Sadly most people I know scoff at it while they snuggle their PSPs, oh well I'll keep mine with the hope that some amazing game will come out on it and I can mock those who shunned it.

Though I can see myself going to work and chatting to people saying "Did you hear about the renaming of the Revolution?"

Well Nintendo has been losing the console war since the PlayStation came out and started trashing the N64, it only got worse when the horrific Dreamcast was killed off and the much more dangerous (to Nintendo) Xbox took its place.

DS has and continues to sell out PSP as far as I am aware. That said I think revolution will be a huge hit, people need to stop ripping on the specs of it, because they really aren't that bad. The controller looks awesome, and lately reading the different articles on games it will be put to use. Xbox360 so far has been a flop, the PS3 will be good for its price.. can't see it being worth it.

Sony is into evolutionary, expensive, versatile crap.

Nintendo is into revolutionary, cheaper-but-less-featureful, dedicated machines.

Hmm...maybe in Canada, but I'm pretty sure that isn't true in general? I'll read back again later.

Which one's been out longer?
Torak2006-04-30 01:21:40
Every report I have read says so, and I think it was in Japan or total. I will try and find a recent one..

EDIT: In the west they are about even, and in Japan DS is outselling PSP by an insane margin. http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=0&cId=3148983

No, it's true in general. Always has been. Pretty much everywhere.

Wii is a reference to the word "we," as far as I know. Not to wi-fi or anything else.

People you know obviously aren't a very good sample of the majority of the handheld gaming crowd, then, if you look at sales! biggrin.gif
There are lots of great games out right now, by the way.

Correct. The DS has been trouncing the PSP for some time now, the general consensus is that the lack of interesting games on PSP and focus on entertainment software has alienated the gamers.

Anyway, I get Nintendo wanted to reach out to the whole family market with their really juvenile name, not just gamers. watch any of their revolution films and you will see that they want to capture the entire demographic from 7 to 70.
I hate the name, I'll still buy one but i'll be damned if i'm calling it my Wii....or I might have it modded yellow.
