Oh and I am still trying to work out why Revan thinks his choice not to fight in a demesne has any bearing over the matter. Shouldn't the fact that many of the people who would be using this skill would most likely be in a demesne count for something.

My best guess would be a disruption scroll but in the end that is a temporary measure (right?) and probably able to be coded around. It would be so exciting to spend half your fights trying to avoid getting hit by this skill.

Because Saran, mages hsould be like achaean sylvans, lethal (but not to he point of massive OP) in demesne, and pretty good outside demesnes too if the mage knows what he's doing. Perhaps a mage should have to 'choose' a demesne and make it a large cost to move it from place to place for a bit more fun.

Either way, mages still need to be good to win outside of a demesne.

I really hope the upgrade runes to be good, so that we can -finally- have a mage choice that can totally be out of demesne and work on illusions.

I suggest being able to sling runes off EQ (its a balance attack) so you can do magey stuff while being able to sling afflictions!!

or SOMETHING that works nicely, cause runes is seriously lacking compared to tele.

Whats the time difference between, You rub your temples, and the blinding pain? Is there enough time to leave the room or do something between those messages?

The "you rub your temples" thing is not related to mindblast, he was afflicted with an ordinary telepathy affliction beforehand. There is no delay on mindblast.

Well, firstly I'd like to apologize for my ranting. I was angry last night for various reasons and, well, yea. Didn't mean to spew it out here. I'll come back when I've thought about a good solution to what is obviously a problem making everyone all upset.

Sorry, I mis-stated that. Of course being in your Demesne while using Telepathy is going to benefit you, what I meant was that being in one doesn't affect the -Skillset- itself in any way. You can't do ranged attacks (Like you can with Illusions), embed attacks in certain rooms (like with Runes and Dreamweaving), or do area-wide attacks (Like with Dreamweaving). Psionics functions completely independantly of your Demesne. Sure, it helps to have Rockslide, Lodestone, etc., don't get me wrong - but the skillset itself is Demesne-free.

The problem with Telepathy before, was it was virtually impossible to pull off the transendant skill against anyone with a simple auto-sipper script. Even inside your Demesne, it was hard, because Sparkleberry alone was enough to compensate for the ego damage done by MindBlast, or PsychicVampirism. And you simply couldn't -hope- for a damage based kill on it, so there was simply no point in even trying.

Unfortunately, it's gone the other way now. Between increased speed, and massively increased damage at high levels, it's simply too easy. And any fool can power-level to a high level if they really want to, it just takes time, no special skill.

Once again, I like that it got a boost - it -badly- needed it. But I think the Hivemind boost to damage functioning in a slightly different way would have been better. A % boost to damage based off their skill levels in Discipline and Telepathy, for example.

i would like to point out that just a few seconds ago i fought dysolis and it took 3 hits for her to insta kill me with mindblast, iwas given the choice between sipping health and dying to instakill or sip bromide and die through having no health while at the same time i didnt have enough mana to trueheal is this really fair that this can happen in about 10 seconds?

First, it'd be at least 18 seconds (Superstratus is a 6 second recovery). But that's semantics!

Second, feel free to use sparkleberry. That'll slow it down considerably. Third, while we can boost our damage by increasing our Ego....you can boost the number of hits it takes you to die, by increasing -your- Ego! Get a Throne, get a Karma blessing, get Netzach, etc.

But yes, it's already been established that MindBlast and such needs to be tweaked slightly.

Alternitavely we could nerf it, so that it doesn't become the new warrior-combo with onions. (The onions being mana and ego.)

Couldn't it be coded in somehow for the effect of ego on MindBlast damage to follow the pattern of an inverted parabolic curve? This way, as an individual attains ridiculous amounts of ego, the added ego will, in turn, have less of an increase on mindblast damage.

Thats about the same as what revan does to me after the second mindblast in a demensce I have to run to cure up, no way to counter it, out of demensce I have to run after the third or fourth mindblast.

I dont mind it doing so much but if it is there should be some way of blocking or defending against it.
