I'd just like to say that, even though this is upsetting (Mostly because I like roleplaying mixed allegiances... Now that I can't frantically try to conciliate the Light and being a pacifist, the game will be more boring) it was all done with reasonably good roleplay and, even though I griefed a lot of people into fuming, it's all IC and I don't hold a grudge against anyone OOCly. And, it's probably the most interesting thing that happens to me in Lusternia for a long time. Maybe I'll take a vacation from it. Or maybe It'll renovate my interest in the game.
And I'd like to remind you all of two things:
One, Verithrax is a bastard.
Two, despite the username, I am not Verithrax. I trust most people involved to respect the distinction, and if anyone starts an argument on this thread I ask the mods to close it.
However, NERF DIVINE LANCE!

Walkers are illegal in Celest now. First thing I heard coming into the realms was that I had to quit or leave the city. And I'm not leaving Celest unless Magnagora will take me
Shaeden2006-04-28 18:01:57
As much as I am sorry to see you go, I did see this comming. Saw it comming a long way off. Plus, we already have Elcyrion for those who want to play "mixed allegiance" peoples. Meh. Can't change what happened. If you do go, it's been an interesting ride, and I know for a fact I wouldn't be where I am today without your characters influence (of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be somewhere better by now, it just means I would be exactly where I am)
Verithrax2006-04-28 18:02:36
Getting banned, that's the one thing that really disturbs me... It makes the game less interesting because there are less options of concepts and culture and community. However, getting Divine attention for something so small makes it all seem awfully big, doesn't it? Scary.
And Shaeden, Elcyrion doesn't provide properly. He and I are really a lot different, promise. Completely distinct. And, you see, I was here first, advocating peace and all.

I kinda agree. Of course, IC = Slightly happy, OOC = pretty sad. Walkers were always a good arguement for me and Tzek.
Oh, and satues shouldn't be able to be set against clans and/or order IMHO. (Orders it could be like "The god protects you or something silly)

How interesting...
It would seem that the Basin has turned from a place full of life and diverse beliefs and philosophies, into a blood bath.
If there were poliitcal cartoons in Lusternia, I'd be drawing a picture of a sink filled with blood.
No stealing my ideas for Artisinal!
Wondering how long it will take for Elcyrion to either change his belief system or get kicked out of Serenwilde for not killing fae

El Cereal doesn't provide, like I say. He doesn't let just about anyone be a member (And soon, very soon, anyone, even Murphy, will be able to join the Walkers.) He doesn't provide you with a nicely packaged set of beliefs you can hold on to and which are designed to balance being a pacifist with living a reasonably comfortable life. He doesn't sell clothes at astounding prices. And most important of all, he doesn't have my charm, and I kick his arse when it comes to arrogance.

I agree completely. What's the point of secret clans? If you couldn't tune statues, dreamweaving to find things out would be more useful, and politics would actually be interesting since there's a possibility of intrigue and secret societies - "So-and-so acts a little weird. Maybe he's in Raezon's Order?" - If there is no easy, legitimate way to find out, you have to resort to spies (Or maybe a blind witchhunt). That would be a great improvement to the game. And it would take a short while because you'd be taking out code.

The statues issue is an old one...
Don't remember the reason for keeping them the way it is.
Even if you changed the name of your clan, and got new members, the statue would still hit the new people... very annoying.

Maybe make it so they defend against clans, but members of a secret clan aren't affected unless they're the clan leader? That would be pretty reasonable.
Richter2006-04-28 18:45:44
Another instance of people going overboard. Or, as you explained to me, shooting themselves out of the ship's cannons. When they want to take you down a notch, you're usually killed, enemied, banned, etc into oblivion.
Also, note, that player created orgs that are roleplay-heavy don't last here very well. Why? Because people are asses.

Tzekelkan2006-04-28 18:46:12
Ok, that was really really silly.
IC perspective:
- Tzek is way better than Verithrax when it comes to representing Walkers' beliefs. Although Tzek never said it and will never say it because he is too modest and caring towards other people
- Tzek had some pretty nice arguments
- Umm, I think I forgot something
OOC perspective:
- There is no OOC perspective. It should be all done in-game. The Role-Play was excellent, although annoying for Tzek AND me. Verithrax' is an awesome character, OOC, but IC, you're right, the git!

Quite simply, statues should not be allowed to be tuned against Clans and Divine Orders. There's no reason for it in either case. It disallows the existence of secret factions of any sort, and renders secret clans completely pointless.
Verithrax2006-04-28 18:57:28
Just to clarify... My actual crime was asking some Walkers for information on Lanko, rumours, dirt, whatever. Catarin called it spying. I'm sure it's just IC biasedness.
Catarin2006-04-28 19:04:21
Actually, that was just the icing on the cake.
There have been informants and spies targetted at the Walkers for weeks gathering any incriminating evidence they could. Was there some political motivation? Of course. Is it all true? Who knows. Does it matter? Not so much. Secret information gathering operations are just flat out fun RP
OOCly I feel semi-bad for the Walkers in general who didn't have anything to do with all this. Maybe they'll form a clan without someone who inspires immediate suspicion like Verithrax at the head of it. The debates about the beliefs were always entertaining.

Like I keep saying lately, all will be revealed in due time. The future of the Walkers is planned and should show up in a public post sometime today.
Daganev2006-04-28 19:13:33
Just read your sig Veri... I think its funny that Bastards is Illegitimum....
So many political inuendos and puns you could make with that, if Latin was IC

It's from Terry Pratchett.
Shamarah2006-04-28 19:24:46
Which book? I don't recognize it, and I've read every Discworld book I know of.
Verithrax2006-04-28 19:33:55
Actually, I got it from wikiquote...
And since I'm at it, I might as well thank everyone who took part in this sorry mess, in order of appearance: Catarin, Tzekelkan, Invid (For unflinching loyalty and lucidian-ness), Revan, Aiakon, and most of all Terentia who got a whole lot of grief from me, thanks for not shrubbing.

By Terry Pratchet he ment Joseph Stilwell, who said...
“Illegitimis non carborundum.Lat., Don't let the bastards grind you down.â€
or ....
Noli illigitemi carborundum decendus
Don't let the bastards grind you down - HowdyDave
However in Refrence to the book small gods, this pops up...
- Nil Illegitimo Carborundum is dog-Latin for "Don't let the bastards grind you down".
Variants of it crop up in various places, most notably Nil Carborundi Illegitimo which apparently is a key phrase in the Illuminati mythos.
