Back to Common Grounds.

MAde a Mag alt a while ago. Wow. Neat place. Never been in mag before, but I've always meant to try it out. I am greatly impressed. I see why you guys steal us all and I can never bring them back! Quite a shame the city seems kinda "sleepy." I often on with 9 other people while Celest would have 21 citizens around, which is a shame 'cause it takes away a bit from the RP. Celest is nice because we often have mindless banter going on, and everything seems happy, but there is always a sorta malevolent force in the background. (Like we enemy a novice who wouldn't leave the city) Magnagora seems the opposite: angry, and harsh up front, but forgiving and understanding in behind. *shrug* I may just not know enough about either city, but that's how I feel in both.

Oh, and Mags are as a rule, more helpful to newbies. No one gave my Paladin swords until Shric found me. mellow.gif Anyways, Mag is a really cool city, good job guys! (guys being everyone involved from Divine to mortal)

There are people all over who are helpful to newbies. In every place, I've had really engaging people in my guild after making a character, and as well had times when no one even responds, or attemps to help in any way shape or form.

Its all about the timing smile.gif.
Hazar2006-04-30 19:30:11
In the Ebonguard, at very least, I always try to help out every novice I see. If I know no one was around when the novice first showed, I try to make a particular point of helping out.

So, yes, it's all about the timing.

The ur'Guard have the best novice experience in the game, I think.

Ev has made it his personal mission to make sure every novice Brave gets undivided attention from someone when they come through. I'm glad all cities/communes do too. And I've always wanted to play a Mag alt as well (just no time sad.gif ). This makes me want to do so even more! biggrin.gif

I love Magnagora. We practice all the virtures that Celest preaches better than Celest does, and still manage to be tainted badasses. I believe it was Ashar, in one of his sermons, who claimed that they hate us because we have attained what they can only dream of. wub.gif for Ashar.
Aiakon2006-04-30 21:08:28
Baalphegar more or less says that.
Unknown2006-04-30 21:13:52
Ah, yes, Baalphegar's little shpeel about the Demon Lords. wub.gif for Baalphegar as well, even if his cult has degenerated into a bunch of... meh.

Thanks for the praise.
Acrune2006-04-30 23:41:25
Hmm, interesting, I found the -exact- reverse to be true. Perhaps I'll try another Mag alt to see if anything's changed.
Lanko2006-05-01 01:35:10
yeah, I like the Paladins novice program much better than the Ur'guard. I could be a tad biased since I'm GA now, but even still, Paladins seem to have a more personal and giving program. I've had three Mag alts and none of them have made it out of novicehood because Celest is so much better, couldn't get interested over there in Mag
Yrael2006-05-01 01:45:20
Magnagorans are incredibly helpful to novices - until you start acting like a mental deficient, or give one of the more spiteful members (Torak, Aiakon, Marcalo, Yukari, etc) a reason to hate you. Then you're screwed eight ways from sunday, sideways, too. But in general the novice programs and novice help in general is fairly comprehensive.
Marcalo2006-05-01 01:46:59
If you made a Ur'Guard you can thank me for getting the novice weapon program up and running, and thank everyone else for refining it. Any other guild well I don't know. But yes mag puts out this evil i am going to eat your face aura. But underneath its citizens actually care about each other and help each other. I am not saying this does not happen anywhere else. But I've only noticed it in Magnagora.
Daganev2006-05-01 02:14:06
Oh the advantages of small populations.
Everiine2006-05-01 02:36:18
Doesn't always happen with just small populations. I can't speak on the other novice programs, but I and the other Serenguard Undersecs have been working harder than ever to work with Braves, and it seems to be working.

Of course, there are days when Braves are ignored and whatnot, but that's bound to happen in any org. But every org has its good and bad days. As a whole, I think all orgs have done a great job keeping novices in the game smile.gif.
Daganev2006-05-01 02:59:30
How do you afford so many weapons?
Shaeden2006-05-01 03:54:50
Celestines can afford shovels for everyone. unsure.gif
Unknown2006-05-01 03:59:18
On the few paladins I've played I have had terrible novice experiences. They have no novice files, instead every novice is personally taught by a full member - in theory it's a good plan, but instead what you get is a bunch of half-retarded GR1's fresh from novicehood instructing novices on things they hardly know themselves while the leaders sit around congratulating each other for their flawless system.
Unknown2006-05-01 04:49:03
Erm, I got someone who met me at the pool, led me to the guildhall, and directed me to selftraining and left sad.gif.
Shaeden2006-05-01 05:02:22
sad.gif I've had to do that before sad.gif Not cool

It's not that hard. Out of the all the forging cartels we are in, it's pretty easy to find a cheap design that will let novices get on their feet rather than using newbie attacks to hunt rats and the like.

You can use guild funds to pay for it, depending on your guild's finances.
