I don't think meteor arrows were very powerful in Achaea. With my serp alt, I would sit in rampages, raining meteors on people, but no one ever dies, and that's as a Rajamala with x2 balance. Although my 90 damage whip was nice, but it almost never hit, but when it did it was like 1k damage. But it also took a long time for balance to recover.

A ranged class by itself could become overpowered; if they have enough skills to keep the enemy from them entirely, they are overpowered, but if the enemy gets to them, they are screwed, hrm.. Thus the suggestion of a secondary skill, maybe spears or shortswors for communes, and daggers or polearms for cities.

I was a Raja with level 1 arti bow and with reflexes on. Could have 4 meteors in the sky before they started falling, and still didn't really dent anyone if that's all I did. They did about 300 damage each, or broke shield. Fun as hell though to just rain them down on some big name fighter to give his opponent a more level playing field.

That....might work, actually. A ranger whose main weapons are daggers, which can be used as either a slashing weapon or a thrown weapon to an adjacent space. The ranger would be based in speed over power, an extremist blade master kind of thing with heavy emphasis on parrying and speed. This would be a ranger, not an archer. I'm thinking that hunting would be a tertiary guildskill, and if we ever figure out a way to make a fair form of archery, that would be its secondary skill, allowing to gain an edge before wading in with its comparitively weak weapons. Would be a fun guild to play in my opinion, but would have definite drawbacks. What do you guys think?
